  1. screw off you pessimists and you doom boners it's spring and the world is showing signs of not being a complete disaster within a relatively short time frame. now is the time for optimism. KB, Javy, Rizzo and Willy are going to carry this team in the infield. they are all very good, so hopefully they can all be very good (and healthy) together again...which, yeah, it's been a while. nico will at least field his position really well and hopefully has some improvement in him at the plate. happ is going to continue to take off as a hitter, pederson is going to hit a bunch of dongs and field reasonably well, and heyward may or may not be a negative, but at least "may not" is realistically in play for once. the starting pitching is going to be better than expected and the infield defense is going to be a big reason why. hendricks is hendricks. davies, jake, and williams will do a cromulent job of eating innings and keeping us in games. that dork mills is fine for a 5th starter too i guess. alzolay and his new slider might sneak up on us and become awesome. i'm really excited to see if he can build on what he had going late last year. we'll see about the bullpen but there were some good signs from kimbrel and overall there is some good and bad. hopefully it'll shake out to something competent. at the very least, beating up on the pirates will be fun, but yeah let's go out and win 90+ in a crap division. plus i want to see boog have at least one good season with this group of guys before everything inevitably goes to horsefeathers.
  2. plus greg gabriel is legitimately an extremely dumb person and often full of horsefeathers
  3. i don't think there is a great example of one of these early arb buy out contracts turning out disastrously yet (i could totally be missing someone obvious) which is a good representation of why they are usually shitty for the player and great for the team, not that i don't get why players opt to do it.
  4. mike hampton is such a weird name to bring up as your example for this lol Why? He signed a mega-deal, blew out his arm, and never played again. He's a pretty good example of the risk of signing someone to a long term deal (though he is a pitcher, and screw pitchers) uh well first mike hampton pitched 5 seasons after signing that contract before blowing out his arm and missing two years from 33-34, he is a pitcher, and he signed that contract 21 years ago so even if he were a good comp i would think you'd pick someone more recent lol
  5. I mean, there's ALWAYS the risk that Tatis "Mike Hampton"s himself and is out of the game in two years, but yeah, I'm all for saying "horsefeathers it" to all the arbitration years and just locking up your obvious superstar mike hampton is such a weird name to bring up as your example for this lol
  6. i figured hulu dropped it for the offseason but who knows
  7. The problem is going to be what the definition of "a little money" that he's willing to sacrifice. I don't think Boras and PTR will define it similarly. boras isn't the one defining it.
  8. also philly's infield defense is really bad i'm pretty sure
  9. i'm irrationally happy about this
  10. he's actually good at defense while almora isn't, for one and he actually hits lefties well, like almora hasn't for a couple of years now plus we get to not have albert almora on the team anymore, which is awesome
  11. yep how does someone see what the dodgers (and just about all the well run orgs) have been doing and come to the conclusion that employing platoons is a sign of weakness in and of itself
  12. yes jag or not, he put up over 1k rushing and 1500 total yfs, and he's 23 meaning he likely should hover around those numbers for 5-6 more years barring injury. Sure, if you can draft a Cook you do so, but RB is far from a need right now lol come on man

  15. i understand what you were trying to do here and why you were trying to do it, but if goff is a "superbowl qb" then the term carries no weight. we don't need to call every guy who has played in a superbowl a superbowl QB. or we can, but then the term is meaningless/useless. either way is ok. that sentence just characterizes them in a way that misleads about the fact that stafford is a clear upgrade over west coast mitch. I thought we agreed Goff is Rich Mitch. i missed that memo lol
  16. I think everything around him starting falling apart. Only 1 other even started the 12 games he started, and that was his center, Jason Kelce. They were a little healthier on the OL in 2019, but notoriously lost every WR they counted on at some point in the season. And his 2019 wasn't bad. It was pretty average, but he wound up with near the same yards per game, same INTs, and much better completion % than his MVP caliber 2017 season. Seems like a textbook case of a guy trying to do too much with everything around him falling apart. He got sacked 2nd most in the league 50x this year, despite missing 4 1/2 games after being benched. Their line was atrocious. to be clear, i'd take him over running it back with mitch (or, god forbid, foles) but that's about the most i can say.
  17. please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears please dont be the bears
  18. Gonna be? We've already seen a Superbowl QB, who won a playoff game last month get traded for a QB with 0 playoff wins and that team give up 2 first round picks to get rid of that guy. The only way to "win" in this market is to get the best prize or get the best value. i understand what you were trying to do here and why you were trying to do it, but if goff is a "superbowl qb" then the term carries no weight. we don't need to call every guy who has played in a superbowl a superbowl QB. or we can, but then the term is meaningless/useless. either way is ok. that sentence just characterizes them in a way that misleads about the fact that stafford is a clear upgrade over west coast mitch.
  19. oh my god is that dumb i always thought fishbain was kinda bad but this has me thinking he's nightengale bad
