  1. hahahaha wow he literally hasn't what a weirdo
  2. Apparently literally everybody who works for the Cubs in just about any capacity is getting some form of a ring. A lady who is a part time seasonal wrigley field tour guide (said she works like 80 hours a year) called into the score and said she is getting one. Said it will be real gold (but obv not real diamonds) Seems pretty generous of the organization
  3. Is "same old Javy" the 2014 Javy or the 2016 Javy? Swing% O-Swing% Z-Swing% Contact% SwStr% K% 2014 46.8 39.5 58.7 59.0 19.2 41.5 2016 52.6 42.9 67.9 72.4 14.4 24.0 SSS and stupid to take anything as meaningful right now but he certainly looks closer to 2014 Javy so far this year than last years improvement Javy, especially last night. Part of that is probably due to the fact over half his PAs this year have been vs RHP so far. It's almost as if his PAs against them should be limited or something.
  4. Every street in Humboldt Park should already have been named after Geovany Soto anyway.
  5. Because this is what crisis P.R. firms do in a crisis. They find all the dirt they can on the other guy and feed it to the media to report on. Just like the dumb gate agents and cops, they can claim they were just "doing their job". That seems really stupid if that is the case. Why not just issue some kind of public apology, maybe some token firing of some employee thrown under the bus, and take the L? I feel like that would be way better received.
  6. I have only loosely followed this, and United made some really stupid decisions that I am in no way defending. They should have put their employees on another plane (or, hell, even a car) or offered more money until someone actually agreed to volunteer. That said, that is really bizarre behavior. Like actually getting to the point that he had to be forcibly removed and dragged off was really really weird. Who does that?
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] Uhh??? Nothing about being a restricted FA. Also that other rule at the bottom is something I've never heard of though. Is that new or has it always been there? I hope you pointed it out to him that article says absolutely nothing about a restricted FA. I'm pretty sure he posted that because of that and the fact that this guy is an idiot and that is funny because there is no such thing as restricted free agency in baseball.
  8. Yes he was, my office has a view across the sun-times building. Several kayakers were going after Red Bull sponsored baseballs, can't miss out on those collector's items. I figured they were part of the event, put there to retrieve the balls and not just leave them in the river.

  10. They announced this a few months ago...he's getting a street dedicated to him in Humboldt Park. I thought it was weird as horsefeathers too. But then, it doesn't look like the bar is real high for those honorary street signs.
  11. the plaza is beautiful. felt like i was in a completely different place. can't wait for some summer nights.
  12. [tweet] [/tweet] i am definitely getting this at some point
  13. the international pool bonus and the draft caps came in the same cba, implemented a few weeks after theo got hired. both came into play summer 2012
  14. Forever against trading good young bats for the myth that is "young pitching."
  15. happened upon this incredibly bizarre and very stupid take [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. Ewww. Has everybody forgotten that javy is a terrible hitter against most pitchers? I love him but the hot playoffs and spectacular defensive highlights have made everyone nuts. David, that's the type of thinking that has the Cardinals where they are today. Anything Javy does at the plate is extra gravy, his glove however is game changing. Meant to reply to this yesterday but my phone screwed up the post and I gave up on it, but this just is an absurdly drastic overstatement. The choice between Baez and a lesser fielding 2B who can hit a lot better isn't the choice between a great defense and the Cardinals, nor is the notion true that Javy can be a complete non-contributor at the plate (what you're saying) and still be an impact "game changing" player because of his glove. What you described is basically Darwin Barney at his peak.
