  3. what's crazy is with these guys if anything it's been the opposite of what he was saying . none of the scouting reports had guys like javy, addy, KB, etc. as great as they are defensively. of course, considering addy and JB were shortstops, they were supposed to be pretty good to good but there wasn't really talk of them being elite impact/difference making defensive players (in fact, some reports even questioned whether they could stick at SS)...and obviously there were some iffy reports on KB at 3B (not saying there weren't good ones too). i just don't think the scouting reports were as high as they should've been on these guys as defenders when they were coming up. There were questions about Addy sticking at SS? I thought he had the "double plus hands". questions about his range/ability to keep weight off early on, and then also about his arm IIRC
  4. plz no stupid horsefeathering rainout after we already had to endure that stupid off day monday
  5. seems dumb if they do. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/st-louis-mo/63102/hourly-weather-forecast/349084 seems to be a solid window after 3

That's a really good point. I remember going to see Iowa play a three-game series in OKC and thinking Bryant looked stiff and frankly too tall to play 3B. I was totally sold on Baez though, because he made a number of "Baez" plays in that series, and I had gone into it thinking of him as this error-prone lackadaisical goober i was notoriously off on KB's defense too. kept penciling him as LF when we'd post lineups going into 2015. saw him in the AFL game that was on TV and thought the exact same thing you did.
  7. Game is (scheduled to be) in 4 hours and no thread...

  9. Someone on the Marlins threw one almost as bad in the 03 NLCS
  10. Great for 2017 Cubs, bad for off season negotiations. Who cares about those
  11. I think it's toward the corner of Sheffield and Addison, where that old little Sheffield Grill or whatever used to be (by the RF corner of the grandstands). EDIT: This thing. Not sure if it's still there as I am rarely in that part of the park.
  12. I can't imagine Schwarber being in any kind of regular catching rotation, barring injury. I know they've tested him a couple of times now, but I really can't imagine a situation where he'd be considered a starter with any sort of regularity unless Contreras got hurt or something. Especially given the quality we have at the position in Contreras and Montero. I pretty much thought Kyle is the emergency 3rd catcher more or less. If something did happen to Miggy or Willson, wouldn't the Cubs think about bringing up Caratini instead of messing with Kyle playing back there for an extended amount of time? I'm just going with their recent history. They have tended to be aggressive with these types of decisions so I'm never surprised when they are. It seems like they've been testing his limits with catching so far to a point where they might have more in mind than just using him there in an emergency in a given game.
  13. If they were still in Kane County, Cease might be enough to get me to my first minor league game (it's funny that I'm even pretending that's true given some of the guys we had there before)....
  14. Who cares enough to track this stuff? Weren't the Cubs in first place wire to wire last year? No, they weren't, and it was what they hung their hat on all of last year.

  17. Yes, yes you guys are.
  18. you might be right...i had forgotten about the jake/montero thing in that case, my best guess is russell, heyward, montero for 5, 6, 7 Is there a world where Miggy catches Jake every 5th day (I'd prefer Kyle, but whatever), Schwarber catches Anderson/Monty every 5th day, and Willson gets the other three? Or is Schwarber catching only in late game situations? Does Miggy get more than 20% of the starts? I can't imagine Schwarber being in any kind of regular catching rotation, barring injury. I know they've tested him a couple of times now, but I really can't imagine a situation where he'd be considered a starter with any sort of regularity unless Contreras got hurt or something. 20. Almora will be in the lineup and batting 9th today so i'm guessing schwarber bryant rizzo zobrist russell heyward contreras (personally i'd flip addy and willson) arrieta almora
  21. i used to use the ATM there during games...the ATM lines are outrageously long in Wrigley usually, so I'd just say I was going for a smoke and they allow reentry for that. I think murphys and bernies both still have ATMs too though
