  2. what'd he say? coomer was speculating about a player calling him to recruit him or something and wondering whether it would be tampering
  3. i was so disappointed by this better just be an addition (or temporary) and not a replacement
  4. apparently pat and ron have no idea about the "verlander was waiting hoping the cubs would get a deal done" storyline
  5. don't look now but the cubs are now 5th in MLB in runs scored, 4th in OPS, 4th in dongs, 4th in wOBA, 7th wRC+, as for all those worries about the defense, 5th in DRS and 5th in uzr/150
  6. i got it for the first time from going an hour on a treadmill this past winter. wasn't even a super intense hour. anyway, it took like a month to go away and was like a stabbing pain whenever i walked. awful. any cardio i've done since has been low impact.
  7. seems odd to make a move for next year at the playoff roster deadline. not that it couldn't be. but we have a month to figure out if he has a place on the playoff roster. thats what a verlander trade would have been largely about if it happened. Every move they've made this season has been as much about 2018 as 2017. well, sure, largely (even though it still has pretty considerable significance for the 2017 playoff run), but that's more because the tigers were working on the august 30th clock with other teams. i don't think people were knocking down the door on martin. i'm pretty sure the cubs got him in case a need arises for an OF or he somehow otherwise plays his way into a playoff role as a baserunning (not good this year)/defense guy.

  9. what a big loss it would've been for the city if the sox had moved
  10. i remember when he was one of the pieces we were trying to get in the garza (or was it dempster? - i think garza) trade

  12. Honestly, what do you have to lose? This isn't a Lovie situation where the players loved him. This isn't even a Trestman situation where the playbook goes out the door with him. I don't think there are any players worthwhile that are closely tied to him and would miss him. Loggains and Fangio stay. Make Fangio the head coach. Make Donatell DC. Loggains keeps calling the offense, and let him make the QB decision for Week 1. yeah, I think Fangio is the next HC of this team anyway. I theoretically hate the idea of trying to force a DC on a new HC like we did with arians/marinelli, but I'd much rather hire someone offensive minded and retain fangio as DC. fangio doesn't really strike me as HC material either. hell, i'm open to the idea that loggains might be a competent coach after the way he made a couple shitty QBs look decent last year (moving the ball...shitty QBs and shitty skill players aren't going to get you in the end zone much no matter how well you scheme) and I have liked how he has called plays in the preseason (well prior to the bizarre things that happened yesterday but yesterday's game is meaningless)....all of that is to say i think i'd rather see loggains elevated to HC than fangio, but i reserve the right to determine that a few months from now. but yeah, option a is hire someone else altogether and i'd love if they could pull off keeping fangio around. would love payton.
  13. well, that horsefeathering sucks. now we can't get him at all. at least it's not the dodgers (or brewers - lol?) i guess.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] this is weird, although he was decent just last year and hasn't played that much this year
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] how could this even be true (in any relevant way) with under a minute left? sidenote: i once had beers with george ofman while watching a bulls game (he was my buddy's neighbor's friend)

  17. after mitch came out i figured i could stop flipping to make sure he didn't get hurt i am not sure i've ever been as confused as i was when i read the tweets about him getting sacked on the last play seriously just fire fox right horsefeathering now

  19. You can't? You can't?
  20. haha but meh...if they're getting a draft pick (a pretty crappy one) just to give up a little cap space, whatever
