  1. I think experience is a big factor. But here's my reasoning. Not necessary because experience makes you better. Playoff baseball is a completely different animal from regular season baseball. I think pressure is very real, and some players play better and some play worse. The fact that the Cubs won last year at least proves that they can excel at playoff baseball, even granting that luck contributes to a large degree in series that are 5 or 7 games. You have no idea if the Nats are full of a bunch of Clayton Kershaws who underachieve in the playoffs (although I do know that Murphy scares the horsefeathers out of me). You at least know the Cubs aren't. Yeah...I do believe playoff pressure is an actual factor. It's just almost always impossible to tell when it is. There's a few examples that are so glaring that it seems unlikely that it isn't in play...David Price, what happened with the starters in the one game playoffs throwing pure meatballs...Hell, DeRosa admitted the other day that in 08 he felt himself trying too hard and trying to be a hero.
  2. just because you have an advantage at something doesn't mean you automatically win and to counter the "too young and stupid to feel pressure thing," the veteran teams that would choke under pressure in the playoffs would be the ones who have been there but haven't really had success (or ones with vets who don't have playoff experience), if that's a thing. i don't think you'll ever be accusing a team of 25 year olds with a lilke 30 games worth of an NLCS run and a world series win under their belts of crumbling under playoff pressure. that's never going to be a thing.
  3. apparently chris berman is doing radio play by play for the astros/red sox game and he must have taken lessons from coomer
  4. Ian Happ has been a far better hitter than Zobrist this year. It's not particularly close. Zobrist is also a worse outfielder.
  5. he was going to until you made this post. way to go I think that only matters when you're purposely saying untrue things to do a reverse jinx. Zobrist genuinely horsefeathering sucks. Those posts were real.
  6. not all... but a bunch. when people pop up on the suggestions i add them if i have any idea who they are. i don't even know why but occasionally something interesting or fun comes of it. or a lot of times another cubs twitter person will like/retweet and it'll pop in my feed as well. bleep-bleep bloop-bloop... accessing data "russell lady friends"... loading... 1.5 billion results... loading... this might be my favorite david robot post ever. and from such a dark horse poster.
  7. you guys know obviously zobrist is going to go like 3/4 with a double now right? this is a great thing we're doing.
  8. Am I crazy for wanting him in there instead of Zobrist? No, but man how nice would this lineup be with Happ in there instead?
  9. [tweet] [/tweet] Poor guy goes to a game where they score like 10 goals and has no idea what hockey is really like.

  11. god i hate the zobrist outfields, especially since zobrist kinda sucks now.
  12. I have a ridiculous memory for nonsense and spend way too much time watching Twitter. Only SSR rivals me in the trivial internet nonsense memory dept.
  13. I guess the FBI does EDIT - super under the radar nsbb meme that wasn't mentioned in our earlier convo?
  14. Complaint? There was a friend who made comments on Instagram (IIRC). Incidentally, Melisa Russell tweeted about her today. [tweet] [/tweet]
  15. Given the entirety of his career, he's probably our 3rd best 25 and under. There's probably room for debate with Baez and Happ though, given recency.
  16. Taking a stab in the dark here, was the reference "the field" as in any 3rd player on the roster, since the first 2 are so good. That was my guess.
  17. [tweet] [/tweet] Can anyone with Insider let me know if the Bears have an elite ranking?
  18. Oh and the Dusty redemption narrative is starting to make this a little more personal for me. I want to badly pound this team and sweep them out now. Didn't previously have a ton of ill will for them. Plus horsefeathers Daniel Murphy.
  19. is that even the mother? If you mean the one you can see in the video, no. His (ex?) wife Melisa is the mother.
  20. Not really. A best of 5 with off days every 2 days.
  21. i'm never this guy, but damn if i'm not a little emo about having to start the playoffs again and possibly not being world champs anymore. i'm not ready to let go yet. i guess that leaves only one option (ignore the royals hashtag).
  22. That would make sense. At least wait to see how the AL games go today since you could have at least one Game 4 be guaranteed. i thought it was weird too...but theo and pretty much everyone on the station was saying their contacts at the cubs said they were expecting to know by late this morning. oh well.
  23. Same. It's crazy.
  24. Now the score is saying that we hope to know tomorrow so who the hell knows
