it's how good is their offensive line at run blocking, how good are their running backs (and you can include Mitch in this, as I'd imagine there'll be some designed run options for him in the offense). it can't just be based on stats (especially traditional ones) because of how much context matters. football, both in the inherent small sample sizes and in the more complex nature of the game, does not lend itself to that type of objective statistical analysis, and most elements have to be evaluated subjectively.

either way, i honestly expect you to "win" this poll both on the inherent subjectivity of the term "elite" and on the fact that the bears are generally considered awful and that tends to generally paint/cloud perceptions of the entire team (i think that with trubisky, they'll be OKish rather than awful, especially once he gets his feet wet).

The phrasing of the question is "Do the Bears have an elite running game?" if you're referencing the argument you're obviously referencing. These are not the same things, even though in 4 games where they've had one hand tied behind their backs, the production has been fine.

Same. I'm trying to think of a more heartbreaking playoff loss since 2003. Maybe Game 3 against the Giants but we were up 2-0 coming into the game. So the most heartbreaking playoff loss in 14 years and I'm like...fine games 1 and 4 of the world series last year were pretty damn awful -

How somebody could have watched the game against Pittsburgh and come away thinking they don't have a great rushing attack is beyond me. The Green Bay game was a comedy of errors due almost entirely to the shitty quarterback and is deflating already good numbers. Not to mention you know last year's full season against your small sample of games in which they actually have another very good running back they didn't have last year. But hey, the bears were ranked 4th in that piece for no good reason. There's obviously favoritism in play for a team that is widely lampooned as a terrible team nationally.

Just take the L and be done with it. This is embarrassing. 25% of the way through the season, the Bears are 12th in YPG and 7th in YPC. You may want to rethink who is winning this argument. LOL sure thing They're low in yards per game because Glennon has been getting their asses kicked. 7th in yards per carry when defenses have had zero to worry about in the pass game is damn good. I cannot overstate how terrible Mike Glennon was. He is gone now.
