  1. Lovie was a first-year coach. Berrian, Tank and Vasher were rookies. Ogun, Urlacher, Tillman and Grossman were hurt. Craig Krenzel was the starting QB. No Moose or Benson or Mark Anderson. I could keep going. Of course, a good portion of the media would probably have you believe that Craig Krenzel is no worse than Rex. Also, just to add, no Hester in 2004, who I think will be a huge factor in this game.
  2. Press availability ended today. Where did you see this? I saw him in an interview this morning and he looked alright. Maybe he was just sleepy 8-) It happened today. He said it this morning...they just played the audio clip on the radio. Lovie also shot back at the press when they asked him about the Rex criticism...he more or less responded, "The criticism is what it is, next question." Rex might've taken a cue from Lovie. Of course, they might've just been tired, like you said. Either way, I like it.
  3. Oh man... Grossman accused the reporters of just wanting to sell newspapers and basically sensationalizing stories. Called them "ignorant." I love it. I really do, because, for the most part, it's the truth. The very same press is going to hammer him tomorrow, though.
  4. Really, it was Hub who was fanning the flames on that one. BTW - I can't say I'd be completely disappointed if Lovie went to the Cowboys for multiple first rounders and Rivera took over as head coach. Of course, I'd love to keep Lovie around. But in the NFL, multiple first round picks are huge. Just for sake of discussion...Imagine adding 4 first round talents to this team in the next two years. Of course, one or more could always bust. How did that work out for the Raiders? I think that's a disastrous idea. It doesn't suprise me to hear Hub Arkush thinks its a good one.....he's another guy who has been wrong about Lovie and wrong about this team the entire time. I'm sorry, but one failed example isn't enough to convince me that it's a bad idea. While coaching in the NFL is more important than in other sports, talent on the field is still the most important factor in terms of winning football games. If you can add premiere talent in exchange for a coach, and then promote a coach out of your own system who you have every reason to believe is very qualified to take the position (Chico), you have to, at the very least, consider it. You'd be doing yourself a disservice not to. Do you mean to tell me you have no interest whatsoever in adding more of that caliber of talent to this team?
  5. Not that we don't already have enough pictures of the Bears in Miami on here, but a friend of mine that goes to Miami took these and I figured I'd pass them on. http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu1.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu2.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu3.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu4.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/bearsatu5.jpg

  7. http://www.superbowl.com/news/story/9964252 Vic Carucci piece warning the Colts and fans not to underestimate the Bears' passing attack, which is "better than advertised."
  8. http://www.superbowl.com/news/story/9964283 Phil Simms piece comparing himself vs. Elway in Super Bowl XXI to Rex vs. Peyton this year. EDIT - One parallel he fails to recognize... Wasn't Simms's career derailed early on by some major injuries for a couple of years until he was finally able to stay healthy (and, IIRC, pretty much avoid major injury the rest of his career)?
  9. Both teams are obligated to be a part of this media circus. They aren't allowed to get their butts on the practice field or the video room at those times.
  10. Don't know if this was posted. They were talking about it on Boers and Bernstein today... Finally, a piece (from outside Chicago) that's actually fair to Rex. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/29/sports/football/29grossman.html?_r=1&ref=football&oref=slogin
  11. Rex and Berrian on NFL Total Access right now.
  12. Then what do you base your opinon on, their astrological signs? Even the most saber-inclined fan (myself included) will admit that there isn't a tried and true, reliable way to measure defensive ability yet for baseball players. There are some decent metrics popping up, but nothing that's nearly as widely accepted or respected as some of the offensive metrics.
  13. And a linebacker that can stay with their skilled tight ends. And their fast, shifty RBs that line up as WRs.
  14. He's saying that they probably won't go Cover 2 against the Colts? Or Man?
  15. I actually made a reference to that exact exchange earlier in this thread (I think) when somebody mentioned Pete Rozelle. That was classic.
  16. It started out as a hypothetical discussion that the Bears would be the 8th should they win on Sunday.
  17. I don't know. I'm not sure why you'd say take them out... The Yankees and Lakers championships seem like forever ago too. They still count. Plus, right now, Chicago sports are in pretty good, if not great, shape. The Bulls, Bears, and (dare I say) Cubs all could conceivably be playing for their championships at the end of their respective seasons this year (one, obviously, already is)... It doesn't hurt that things aren't looking quite so up for the Sox anymore, either.
  18. Just curious... and I hate to take any pride whatsoever in the Sox World Series, but if the Bears win this weekend, that'll be 8 major professional sports championships since 1991. I'm sure I'm missing someone, but can any other city top that?
  19. Just wondering, what type of store did you see it in? I wouldn't mind picking one up. Wonder if my local Walgreen's might have one in the magazine section.
  20. That's it? Looked like a seaon ender on TV. Rex Grossman's initial diagnosis in 2005 during the halftime show of that preseason game was a sprained ankle. In 2004 it was a knee sprain. I'd imagine it will take some further examination (i.e. MRI) to really tell what happened to Big Ben.
  21. Ugh, I'm so jealous. My friend from Miami's roommate works at the Hilton that the Bears are staying at. He's going to let my friend (niether of them are Bears fans, BTW) come to the post-game party at the hotel to "help out." Lucky bastard. I asked him to grab whatever he could get away with for me.
  22. First thing I'm buying if they win is that DVD. Then, hopefully, a navy SB Champs t-shirt.
