  1. I wouldn't say that. It's not just jabber. Those insiders are legit. Nobody ever said the Roberts deal was going to happen quick. The groundwork was laid at the winter meetings. MacPhail still has other fish to fry first.
  2. Awful idea. People complain about Soriano's OBP as the leadoff hitter, then why in God's name would we want Theriot up there? .286/.353/.444 vs. lefties last year in 126 ABs .301/.384/.462 vs. lefties career in 186 ABs I'm not saying I would do it or agree with it (nor do I want Theriot anywhere near the everyday lineup, but oh well), but it wasn't a completely absurd idea.
  3. Sorry if it's a repost, but this looks like CPat all over again if it's for real. This guy at OriolesHangout claims to have seen Lou at a memorabilia convention and says that Lou told him we have Pie penciled in to lead off and play CF. This it he first I've heard of any plan to put Pie at leadoff. I'm not huge on lineup order, but having one of the biggest uncertainties in the lineup take the most PAs on the team doesn't seem like a smart idea. It also might mean that they're going to screw him all up and try to change his approach at the major league level like they may or may not have done to Corey. I suppose it makes more sense (not that it makes sense either way) if BRob isn't acquired. If BRob were acquired (without giving up Pie), it would make zero sense. If he weren't acquired, it would make slightly more sense than that. http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56443 Could just be BS, but take it for whatever it's worth. If true, though, and this guy wasn't misunderstanding Lou or just making things up, it's the first we've heard of any plan to get Soriano out of the leadoff spot.
  4. Yea, I've definitely gotten a kick out of this... Epic thread.
  5. Gonna have to be a little more specific than that. This thread has been all over the place.
  6. it quite fine. i feel the same way. say, on my way to work I drive by a street called "Davern". I have to laugh, especially the whole Davhern/daveharm thing here on NSBB.. lol
  7. no, I am simply pointing out that if you base all your opinoins on stats, and keep saying that those types of opinoins are the only ones that can be made, you cannot have an opinoin (or at least one that has any meat to it) on an issue that has no stats to validate or deny it. it really has nothing to do with Mark Prior. I am just pointing out what i find to be troubling with the whole stats analytical or else arguement. I really dont think its that crazy to understand. but mayne OMC was right Facts, not stats. An opinion that isn't based to any extent on facts and rational logic is worthless. facts was not the word used. it was stats. Cuse was the one who asked everyone else to find stats (stats that are probably impossible to get) for him to back up his claim. On top of it, unless I've missed something, he has yet to provide one piece of support for his argument, other than that it's his opinion. Maybe I could actually be swayed to buy into it (doubt it, but maybe) if there was any sort of support.
  8. Pic looks old enough to be him, too.

  10. This thread is hilarious. I wish I could say the things I think about some of the things that have been said and the people that said them, but I'd probably be yanred for it.
  11. That post has an odd mix of legitimate points/questions and sarcasm.
  12. Leadoff hitter is up there too. Leadoff hitter isn't a position. I agree with you that it's overrated, though (especially since he may actually lead off an inning only once in the game). Psst...Neither is closer, hence the quotes.
  13. Exactly, and at that point, why even bother with Bedard?
  14. Crazy. I would've taken the Rockies' offer in a second.
  15. I get the distinct impression Hendry and Lou have no intention of moving Fukudome to CF. And we wont ever move Soriano again. I get that impression too, as noted earlier, but I don't see, barring a trade for Figgins or someone like that, who would play CF if you are dead set on Soriano and Fuku in the corners.
  16. Leadoff hitter is up there too. Yea.. 1a and 1b as far as I'm concerned.
  17. The closer isn't even the most important role in the bullpen. Most overrated "position" in baseball.
  18. If they traded Pie in the deal for Roberts instead of Murton, I don't see how Murton would not be a starter unless they made another trade for a CF.
  19. I wish Soriano hadn't gotten hurt and we could've stuck with him in CF. He seemed to be doing fine and I think the hitting was more of just a slow start than him struggling because of his position. He'd be a really valuable bat as a CF.
  20. Pie and Gallagher for Roberts? Hendry would be a damn fool to make that trade. Roberts Murton Lee Fuku Ramirez Soriano Soto Theriot Just an idea. The lefties split up the righties (which I don't care much about but Lou seems to) and Lou has pretty much said Fuku will be in the middle of the order (I think he mentioned the 3 & 4 spots as the main possibilities, but I could be remembering wrong).
  21. If Pie is included in the deal, Hendry must be reasonably sure he can get Figgins, right? I mean, we can't go with Fuld in CF. I don't rule out a Fuku in CF and Murton in RF scenario at all, but it just seems like that idea might've been put to rest somewhat by the reports this week that part of what sold Fuku on the Cubs (among other things) was that he'd be able to play RF.
  22. his experience as a high school baseball coach gives his opinion as to the psyche of a professional player he's never met respect? not from me. your experience as a baseball fan doenst qualify you to "prove him wrong" with statistics either. Totally random and irrelevant.
  23. You guys are right and I'm wrong. What more is there to say? I want you, just once, to support your claim in some way other than some blanket statement about it being your opinion. Is that a lot to ask?
  24. I can't believe this is still going on. The best part is that I have yet to see CCF offer one piece of evidence or support for his claim/opinion. I could be wrong, though.
  25. BTW, isn't Guzman out for like 10 years?
