  1. Latest Roberts update from Belkast... People are trying to figure out if it's a 3rd team as in another suitor or a 3-way deal.
  2. Actually, throwing arm is just as out of place in there as speed is. It's just a dumb way to evaluate players. The hitting tools are so far beyond the others in importance that it's just ridiculous.
  3. wait, I thought YOU were goony??? :-k
  4. The notion of five tools is valid as long as you include patience/eye as one of the tools, you give considerably more weight to this tool and the power tool, you give fielding and throwing arm considerably less weight, and you give speed almost no value at all. Contact is somewhere behind patience and power and ahead of fielding and throwing arm. Really, what you have there are six tools. And one of them is almost completely worthless and extremely overrated within the context of the others. In other words, the "five tool" thing is a bunch of crap.
  5. Did our board ever go down during the Nomar hysteria?
  6. Last time the O's board insiders said something like this, Tejada was traded a few hours later, FWIW.
  7. I don't even think Rotoworld ever breaks anything themselves, do they? They just link to other major news outlets when they break the stories, as far as I know.
  8. Count me as someone who doesn't buy into the whole "Soriano can't hit anywhere but leadoff" thing. He had a career year in 2006, and it just so happened he was hitting leadoff. That's a big part of why his numbers are so skewed. Keep in mind, also, that the fact that he was in such a terrible lineup in Washington is part of the reason his OBP numbers looked so good. Off the top of my head, I don't know how many IBB's he got, but it was a significant amount. Personally, I'm not all that worried about his production suddenly dropping off if/when he's moved in the lineup. There are signs that Lou might be considering a change, too. On top of the fact that they're going after Roberts, who is one of the best "traditional leadoff hitters" (God, I hate that term) in the game, there are rumors that Lou, at this point, has Pie penciled in at leadoff, if you believe what Lou supposedly told an Oriole fan at a memorabilia convention. I take that one with a grain of salt, but, at the same time, why would somebody just make a story like that up?
  9. God, I'm so glad it's not us signing Geoff Jenkins.
  10. Blanton? Burnett? Santana (not happening, just listing guys who are/might be available)...
  11. Yea, I think MurtonFan has a valid point on this one.
  12. I really doubt that Dempster will be in our starting rotation, despite what has been talked about. I suppose crazier things have happened, though.
  13. And then when they trade for Roberts, it'll be like they never screwed up. Soriano just moves to LF and Roberts takes over 2B.
  14. The fans, by and large, are morons, anyway. Is that a direct attack on posters? :P
  15. I don't think so. The reason Jaque got booed was his attitude. I never got the sense that he had a bad attitude. He just sucked. You missed all the times he talked about the fans and their "lack of support" in the press? You mean when he told the truth to the media? Things like being honest about being upset when the home fans boo don't exactly scream "bad attitude" to me. I doubt any of his teammates thought of him as a bad guy. I've never been bothered by such nonsense, though.

  17. Thought I should just point out that the bolded is the part that's posted by the second insider (Belkast) in response to what Peace posted. Don't want people to get confused and think we're looking at the same update from before.
  18. Yea. Says it's doing well and he expects to be able to play as well as he did before the procedure.
  19. Pretty sure he just said "Sammy Sosa."
  20. "I am pretty confident that I will be able to get on base." I like it.
