    I remember clinging hard to the optimistic half of a Brian Dopirak write up (probably from BA) that he would either be a perennial 40 HR bat or flame out in AA. Alas. I thought Angel Guzman, Brennen Davis and Brailyn Marquez were all destined for greatness too.

    This is the best explanation. If it happened to the Bears it’d be absolutely soul crushing and I admittedly would have a hard time coming around to it being the right call. As a neutral observer this is the logic that brings it home for me.

    Yeah. He was notable pretty shaky at LT in the Super Bowl last year but I don’t really know how he fared leading up to that.

    I’ve seen him comped to both Christie brothers over the past few weeks, so I’ve been using them as a frame of reference. Both were drafted in the 2nd round. He certainly has a more polished game then Riley or KJ did last year.

    No brainer. The Athletic had him at #11 on their big board yesterday. Without knowing much about this draft class, that feels high, but there’s no reason for him to stay in Champaign if he’s getting even late first round grades.

    Yeah I don’t think this offseason is the time to move on from DJ. I have my eye on Edwards and Edmunds as potential cap casualties. Reasonable dead cap on each and we’ve seen the defense can survive without them. Reallocate those dollars to the d line, and then bide time for another year when it becomes more palatable to cut Jarrett and Dayo.

    Watched the whole first half on my phone from my seat at the UC. Made it to Billy Goat for the second half and at the end of the game I was high fiving Bill Wennington.
