  1. Yeah, I canceled my marquee subscription yesterday. Not in a fit of anger or boiled over frustration or anything like that. Just general boredom with the product on the field. i don’t know. It’s paid for for a couple more weeks. Maybe I change my mind. But this os a wholly unenjoyable baseball team right now.
  2. https://www.outsports.com/2024/5/13/24093811/harrison-butker-nfl-catholic-benedictine-college-kansas-city-chiefs/
  3. we actually got clarity on two rules here: - the three batter rule does not apply after a rain delay - Pat Hughes must remain on the shitter for the duration of a rain delay that occurs in the 5th inning
  4. Do you prefer “Ben Brown Chit Chat” or “Ben Brown Potpourri”?
  5. Shucks, the 19th reliever on our depth chart isn’t very good.
  6. He wasn’t even phased by having to get a 4th out. Just demanded the ball back and kept shoving.
  7. This is how it’s done at the Illini board I frequent, and seems to be a nice solution. One thing that would be nice is if the first post of said weekly thread could be updated periodically to highlight and allow users to jump to key posts. For example, a tweet from Passan about the “Player X signing with Team Z” or a post linking to an article from one of NSB(B)’s writers. This allows users to catch up within the weekly threads from a logical starting point.
  8. Longhorn20 is the megathread antidote this board has needed since rawdog disappeared.
  9. I’m not following. This doesn’t preclude other teams from interviewing Cunningham for future openings, does it?
  10. Whoa the lightning storm was in 2008, apparently. And the Soriano walkoff was ‘09. Wrong x2.
  11. Was this the series with the lightning storm that sent Berkman running for the dugout / the Soriano walkoff?
  12. Boyd would be a fine 3rd option if they don’t draft a WR, but agreed Tyler Scott and Velus Jones as WR3 and WR4 behind an oft-injured Keenan Allen is scary. They do have two strong pass-catching TEs, at least.
  13. Ok, Hendricks actually looks really good aside from the bomb. Please keep it up Kyle!
  14. What makes this even funnier is they got jumped by a 76 win team and an 82 win team in the 2024 lottery. They’re going to lose 220 games over a two year span and wind up with the #5 and #10 picks to show for it.
  15. I know he faced one batter last night, but this is Smyly’s third consecutive appearance. Curious move.
  16. Gray is the name that stood out to me as I was skimming through spotrac earlier. I’m really high on the long term outlook for the rotation, but it’s going to be tricky to cobble together the next couple months. But if we’re looking at a rotation of Steele/Shota/Taillon/Wicks/Horton with Assad/Brown/Wesneski as spot start/multi-inning options as soon as this season, we’ll be in good shape to not be taxing the pen every night. I don’t think much of our non big three options in the pen (though Smyly has acquitted himself fairly well in relief), but if their usage can be minimized, we’ll be fine.
