  1. He missed the end of last year with a concussion.
  2. They still have Bates too.
  3. They did just free up $16 million by cutting Grady Jarrett this morning. Maybe for a last ditch Dalman push?
  4. In terms of grabbing g multiple guys, yeah that’s probably true. One-off acquisitions, Pace, Bushrod, and Sitton were all pretty significant signings when they happened, though Pace turned out to have nothing left in the tank.
  5. Bears cut Gerald Everett and DeMarcus Walker, adding about $10 million in additional cap space.
  6. not sure if anyone posted this but cubs traded for ryan brasier
  7. I’d prefer not to trade anyone. The Cubs have a fairly uninspiring bench. In 2016 we had ten guys for eight spots heading into the season and then our LF blew out his knee the second game of the season. Unless there’s a deal for a pitcher that’s just too good to pass on, I’d rather see them let things play out.
  8. no way I’m surprised no one’s talking about this possibility
  9. Yeah if the Padres aren’t budging on Shaw, I’m fine if they want to sign Robertson, round out the bench and call it an offseason unless something falls into their laps. Shaw is too critical to this roster after the Tucker trade.
  10. Presumably because Assad has options and they have area a guaranteed deal. Not saying I agree with it.
  11. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/did-greg-maddux-ever-throw-hard/ I’m not really posting this to come down on either side of the Maddux argument, just an interesting article that provides some context. So if his typical range 1984 translates to 89-91 (topping out at 95) on a modern gun, and the average fastball in 2008 was 91.4, by 80s/90s standards his velocity was probably average to slightly above average assuming velocities have been steadily increasing over time in a similar manner as they did from 2008-2024.
  12. DC - Dennis Allen OC - Declan Doyle STC - Richard Hightower
  13. Haha fair. But this GM-coach-QB combo has been there one season and didn’t try to sell their fans on some “this is going to take multiple years” BS we’ve become accustomed to in Chicago.
  14. Meh. They’re doing a great job dispelling of the idea that a rebuild must take multiple years in the NFL.
  15. Yeah before Ben Johnson chose the Bears, nearly every mock I saw had Dallas taking him at 12. He also played high school football in Frisco, which feels like something that might matter to Jerry and Cowboys fans.
  16. I may be misinterpreting your point, but isn’t “just bodies” the approach they took with the OL last year? I’m hoping for more than just one surefire starter out of FA.
  17. wow can’t believe he chose the dodgers over a similar offer from the cubs that’s shocking
  18. I don’t know what the numbers include but the takeaway here is that the Ricketts are lying to our faces. Like CubinNY mentioned, the Ricketts have all kinds of revenue streams that likely aren’t included here either.
  19. Get horsefeathered, Tom.
  20. or as i like to call them arlington heights dummies
  21. Brett at BN mentions the Mariners too.
