  1. *9 pages of whining from the usual suspects.* squally: it’s one series with the wind howling out. the cubs are actually pretty good. random dude: hey, buck up, buttercup. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  2. I’m sure this has been responded to but catching up on this thread. PCA was #16 by MLB Pipeline heading into 2024. Shaw was #19 by MLB Pipeline heading into 2025.
  3. "I am here to play wherever they want me to play." -Rafael Devers lol
  4. I would’ve guessed he’d been out of baseball for five years.
  5. I like that Counsell is thinking big picture and getting a few guys a few days of rest with the day off tomorrow. Maddon used to do the same thing. Of course the Cubs bench was much stronger in those days.
  6. No grunting in the press box!
  7. no. he was saying imagine if (a) this was a playoff game and (b) replay didn’t exist. I thought the same thing at first but he was later g in two hypothetical factors.
  8. lol no. umps have always been bad. just ask Armando Galarraga.
  9. Carlton had some good seasons with losing records but not Cy Young. DeGrom and Felix are the closest examples of starters that I can find but they were each a game over .500.
  10. Tauchman has never played 1B in the majors. Maybe he could, but fair that Peanut didn’t pick up what you were putting down.
  11. We shouldn’t talk about baseball announcers on a baseball site?
  12. Easy. Mike Trout, Tim Salmon, Gary Matthews Jr., Kole Calhoun, Dallas McPherson.
  13. It wasn’t too long ago that the offense was picking up the slack for the bullpen. This is how things tend to work over the course of the season. For some stretches the offense picks up the slack for the pitching and sometimes it’s the other way around. At the end of the season, if they’re 3rd in offensive fWar, 11th in bullpen fWar, 10th in fielding fWar, and are able to improve upon their current position of 18th in SP fWar by virtue of Shota returning and/or a trade or two, they’ll be just fine.
  14. Every year this team hits a rough patch for the first time and half this board acts like they’ve never experienced the ebbs and flows of a 162-game season before. Anyway, over their last one games, Kyle Tucker and Ian Happ are each on pace for 162 RBIs.
  15. So the insinuation by both you and GH8888 that this team hasn’t been the same since Carson Kelly cooled down was meant to make what point?
