  1. Those are some ugly [expletive] uniforms.
  2. If we're set on trading him and we have good deals on the table, why are we risking him getting injured during his meaningless start today?
  3. Ironically, that's what a GM would say if they called for Castro and Theo tried to sell them on Reed Johnson instead.
  4. Didn't you know that Zambrano's meanness caused exactly half of Starlin Castro's errors last season? And that time he turned his back to the field? He needed a moment to reflect on how much of an [expletive] Zambrano is.
  5. He'll never rediscover the magic that lead to his 1.016 OPS. Bum imo
  6. I don't know that it ever did. My though process was something like: "It's gonna take a dumb, cheap-ass team to take Soriano. Hey, the Orioles are a dumb, cheap-ass team! YAY!"
  7. I love Jim Thome. This sucks, though, because I really thought we'd be able to dump Soriano on the Os.
  8. I tried Vaseline one time. It just messed with my control more than anything. That's one of two times that I hit somebody in the head with a pitch. Oop.
  9. They should make a TV show out of it, and call it "when dumb people get rich."
  10. I saw an article where Toronto said they wouldn't be adding any payroll. Could we make it easy on them and pay the whole salary if they kick in one of their low A guys that are supposed to e good prospects? Would that be too much for Soriano even with us paying the full bill? ....Would Soriano's knees and Toronto's POS astroturf stadium scare Toronto away? Or was that just a nice way of Toronto saying that they're not going to make any moves?
  11. Hill did have 1,430 at bats as a Cub compared to Neifi's 922. Hill's were spread out over 6 years compared to Neifi's 3, but that's still a lot of at bats for Hill and every single one of them were terrible.
  12. Why? He probably would sign a very cheap 1 year deal, might not even need to give him a MLB contract in the offseason. We invite [expletive]/burnt out pitchers to ST all the time if he works out you have a good trade piece next trade deadline and you don't have to invest a lot into him. Like I said it's not like bringing in Sheets is going to block some young guy from gettings starts (we really don't have anyone in the system that's knocking down the door to get ML starts that you would consider a big time prospect) and it's not like we are going to be on the cusp of contending for the World Series next year where we would need to depend on Sheets to turn into his old self to get us over the hump. If he looks relatively healthy, why the hell not take a flier on him?????????? Because gullible people will think he's supposed to be awesome. Waste of time, he will not be good. I mean why the hell not take a flier on any idiot who's been out of MLB for 3 years?? Remember when we got Ryan Dempster coming off his 2nd Tommy John surgery? The difference between Ben Sheets and "any idiot who's been out of MLB for 3 years" ought to be pretty obvious. On a cheap one year deal in the offseason, I wouldn't mind Sheets one bit.
  13. I guess Dempster was hanging out at Wrigley with some friends for a while after the game today. Think he knows something we don't? :bye: Gail Fischer tweeted that picture, by the way, according to a guy at PSD http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/showthread.php?t=730334
  14. "Lets bring him up just cuz" dumb
  15. Apparently the Orioles' announcer said something about Baltimore talking to the Cubs about a veteran pitcher. I can't confirm it at all, its on PSD. Would Dempster be enough for Matusz? Probably not? Maybe we can dump Soriano on them :D
  16. I like Pat Hughes way more than I like the 2012 Cubs. What gives on Cubs radio? Nice job, Clevenger. \:D/
  17. Any word on whether that has anything to do with our talent level going down for each of the past 5 years?
  18. 3.3 mil a year isn't going to hurt us even if he never sniffs the majors. I know you aren't agreeing with that quote, but what a moran.
  19. What Sucks..Tea Man. is being in last place unable to hit and sitting there doing nothing... ..when we have talent at AAA we could call up. But hey, what's the hurry? Lets wit till next year to break in the new players Oh shut up, we're waiting until they have another year of team control and we're doing it because that's the smart thing to do.
  20. So, let me make sure I have this right, 75 plate appearances is plenty enough to judge whether or not a player is able to hit left handed pitching?
  21. We're judging his career numbers against lefties in less than 75 plate appearances and benching him a against lefties based on that. If we aren't going to win baseball games this year, we may as well see how useful LaHair can be, and he'd be a lot more useful if it turns out he can hit lefties. I couldn't find his career minor league splits against lefties, if they're similar to his MLB numbers then it isn't quite so bad, but regardless it is still pretty stupid.
  22. 2012 - .115/.258/.231 career - .133/.278/.217 So?
  23. Benching LaHair against lefties is legitimately stupid. Other than that, this thread sucks.
