  1. This series scares me. Please, make the NLDS a 7 game series soon. We're better than the Nats, but that doesnt really matter. That pitching can shut you down for 27 innings easily. So can ours, but they for sure have an advantage in that area. I predict a lot of close games in the late innings and I don't really trust anybody but Monty and Davis in the pen right Now. And Lackey I guess. I semi-trust Strop and Carl. Washington's bullpen has become a strength. The Nats are a scary, scary team. But that said, we can exploit Dusty. Lets do Javy-Rizzo-Bryant-Contreras 2-3-4-5. I guaran-[expletive]-tee that Baker intentionally walks Javy then brings in a Lefty not named Doolittle to face Rizzo, Bryant and Contreras at least once in the series. Im mostly joking on that, but between exploiting Dusty, our experience, and the tear we have been on since the allstar break, I think we'll pull it off. And if we do, the Dodgers secretly suck and they will be easy, as long as the Dbacks dont beat them before we get the chance. I'd bet big that the winner of this series will be the NL's World Series representative. Game 1 is an absolute must win. Go Cubs! :flythew: :flythew: :flythew:
  2. I like my Tiny Carrot nickname much more than I actually like Tiny Carrot the baseball player. :/
  3. Im thinking he didnt mean to do that....Wall musta snuck up on him or something, and he lost his balance right into the wall. Like Len said, Im hoping for bruised ribs. Cuz other than that possibility, eeeeeek. Edit: i know what you mean, he should have pulled up well before the wall, i mostly just wanted to make the 'he didnt mean to do that" joke.
  4. Being a better pitcher There's really no evidence to back this up. Hendricks incredible 2016? Yeah, Quintana had a higher WAR. This year in total? Quintana. The last 30 days? Quintana. What are you basing it on? Theres definitely an argument for Quintana to get game 1 honors. Maybe Kyle's 2016 playoff dominance and Quintanas rough stretch in starts 2-5 or 6 are clouding my judgement but im still going with Hendricks. Their stats are pretty similar on the year and in the last 30 days, i guess im giving the tossup to Kyle. Giving Q game 1 does set up L/R/L/R/L, if youre into that kinda thing. I can see value in not showing Q and Lester back to back as they are similar lefties.
  5. He's clearly our best starter right now. I dont really mind if Lester gets game 1. Even I kind of expect him to come up big in the big game even though he's been struggling, and he was improved last night. But then game 2 has to go to Hendricks. Lester/Hendricks/Q/Jake/Lester is what I expect. Hendricks/Q/Lester/Jake/Hendricks is what I would probably go with Lester/Jake/Q/Hendricks/Lester is what Dusty would do, and if Joe does it Ill jump on the fire Joe bandwagon
  6. I think they were just trying to get practice at the formation against a team that thinks they're playing a meaningful game. ....did you just respond to yourself?
  7. I think they were just trying to get practice at the formation against a team that thinks they're playing a meaningful game.
  8. Wow......that was a really good changeup. Yay Quintana
  9. What was Chapman's total in the world series? Maybe Joe was just trying to find his breaking point now instead of in October? Ok no that was just bad managing.
  10. Im still gonna roll my eyes when i see Jay is starting tomorrow tho
  11. Martin He better not be on the playoff roster He's a pretty OK late inning defensive sub and/or pinch runner. I'd be quite ok with it.
  12. Christ, that feels like yesterday and the fact that its in 4:3 makes me feel really old. Thats a cubs game i will never forget, though, so Im sticking with it as the most satisfying. Especially since Happ was clearly out so last night really shouldnt have happened.
  13. Happ was totally out and i think that makes me happier than winning 10-2 would have. Actually not. Lets win 10-2 this time.
  14. I understand ones where Javy is off for a millisecond being kinda horsefeathers, but that was a blatant overslide. I apply my hate for it evenly. Once the runner touches the base safely, he's got a zone that extends 1 foot above and 2 feet around the base and as long as he's got some part of his body in it, he's safe. Thats how I would fix it. The size of the zone may have to change and a time limit may have to be added to it, but i think the concept works. Kyle and Jake looking good are making me forget about it though
  15. Oh and that replay rule has to change. Catching a safe baserunner off the base because of momentum is not the intent of baseball and it isnt in its best interest either. So much offense is being killed by this. Thats great for baseball.
  16. More important, when was the last time he made a bad play in left field?
  17. I assumed we'd be going in up 3.5 at least. Going in up 2.5, we really need to take 3 of 4. A split is OK but anything worse and I'll be worried. The Brewers are not good, im ready to sweep them away.
  18. Im stuck watching the Rays broadcast, so i only saw one replay, but it looked like he made a pretty amazing javy tag on the stolen base, too. It was a great javy tag attempt, anyway. Javy is so damn awesome at everything.
  19. I think they are better than the Rockies and of the 4 coming out of that side, Dodgers, D’Backs, Brewers, Rockies I’d easily pick the Rockies as the teams to face in the NLCS of the 4 (I know them getting there is unlikely but at least would like them to get in to have a shot at it). Disagree. The Brewers have 3 pitchers. They have some real quality in the bullpen, but over a 7 game series depth will bite them. Of the possibles, the Brewers are the weakest team imo. But we have to sweep them this weekend anyway, thats just business, and thats gonna make things tough for them.
  20. Wouldnt be shocked if he was out til late June/July and its a pretty good bet that he struggles when he does return. That sucks for him, for that to happen while running the damn bases is a shame. I much prefer reading about things like Syndergaard holding a shotgun to his shoulder and pulling the trigger or Harvey pitching on short rest.
