  1. It seems like going further back than that he's had a bit of a good run too.
  2. Why in the world would you do that? okay, how about russell branyan? Branyan strikes out way to much to be a everyday player No he doesn't, and he was advocating a bench role.
  3. Cubbies75 is going to be devastated. I did my part to help him out.
  4. Several defensive metrics have rated Jones easily below average as a RF, I don't want him in CF unless he's just holding the spot for the rest of this year.
  5. Somebody's got to crack the whip.
  6. Dusty appreciates Neifi's play, so he must not play baseball poorly. Weak argument. Baseball has boundaries, rules, winners, losers. Therefore there has to be a correct way to do it. Art has no such limitations, it's value is not in winning, only in it's perception, which is completely up to the person who is exposed to it. Terrible analogy.
  7. A top 40 OBP is .380+ Of the top 40 in AVG, only 22 are in the top 40 in OBP.
  8. I need to stop posting in threads after O_O already perfectly says what I want to.
  9. Patterson and Gallagher were both in the top 12 of Cubs prospects before this season. Just because they have a negative report doesn't mean they hate a player or will continue to pan some guy. Dan Uggla having a ridiculous BABIP inflated half season doesn't prove that BA is a fraud. BA on Harvey: "Harvey has a huge ceiling but will have to make several adjustments at the plate to reach it. He's a free swinger with a long stroke who struggles against inside fastballs and chases wayward breaking balls. His two-strike approach is poor. It remains to be seen how well Harvey will do against more advanced pitching, and he'll probably never hit for a high average." BA combines potential and the ability to meet that potential in their rankings. They're very good at what they do, no matter how much of a vendetta people may have against them.
  10. IT'S BECAUSE IT'S ART, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PLAYING POORLY IF PEOPLE APPRECIATE IT I haven't heard a lot of the White Stripes stuff, but I think they sound pretty good from the stuff I know. It's all subjective.
  11. Exactly, the way he answered the question reflects on him ignoring plate discipline in players. I'm confused about your comment. What did he say that was incorrect? Care to prove that most of the High OBP guys are not also good hitters? When asked about OBP, Hendry says that high OBP guys are good hitters, then references that players are supposed to hit their way, not walk. It's exactly what O_O said, he correlates the ability to get on base with that of hitting for a high average, while downplaying/dismissing the walk.

  13. It's a nice way of saying walks don't matter. There are much better ways to get that point across, and it's self evident anyways.
  14. Who cares. Do you really think that even if we aquire a good prospect that we'll do anything with him? Anything to keep Pierre from being here beyond this year.
  15. Pie? Jeebers. Maybe that means Pierre is out the door.
  16. He's hardly cheap. Unless the Phillies pick up a chunk of his contract, he's very expensive. So what? The Cubs have money, and plenty of it. Let them spend it. I wasn't saying its a bad move, I was simply pointing out he's not "very cheap". There's multiple meanings to cheap. I took the original comment to mean player cost.
  17. He can now return to the Fire Swamp from whence he came.
  18. Barrett was a butcher at 3rd and has said he doesn't want to change positions. Barrett's offense from the catching position makes him valuable. His production as a corner infielder would make him very ordinary. I don't think he should be moved to third, but if Barrett were a third baseman this year and had enough ABs to qualify, he would rank 6 of all ML thirdbasemen in OPS. that's not ordinary. That's true, but going forward I don't think we can expect Barrett to continue to put up a .900 OPS.
  19. It was pretty excruciating trying to decide between Addai and Droughns. I went with Addai because he'd be my 3rd RB so I could afford to gamble on his platoon situation for the benefit of him being a better keeper option than Droughns. Plus he plays in a better offense and I really didn't want to pick someone from Cleveland, living there and seeing their crappiness for so long.
  20. How many of Celtic's regulars were playing? It didn't really say, but I think most if not all. It is their preseason though while it's the middle of the MLS season.
  21. DC United beat Scotland's Celtic 4-0 today, with DC resting 4 of their starters.
