  1. Be sure to report back to see how Ted looks out there.
  2. Regular season, tournament, or either?
  3. I know you weren't honestly comparing the talents of Carlos Delgado with Jason Marquis. Florida is well versed at spinning off talented players for prospects. The Cubs are not, even though they SHOULD be, considering the amount of times they finished in the bottom half of their division. I would have taken George Kottaras off of the Padres hands for Maddux. Ethier, Kemp, Loney, Guzman, Delwyn Young, Andy LaRoche, Scott Elbert, etc..... The Dodgers played hardball with Hendry one too many times, and Hendry let Colletti walk all over him again on the Maddux deal. Simply amazing. Let us count the ways: 1) Outbid Hendry on Furcal, the only player Hendry wanted that offseason. 2) Signed Nomar, who Hendry had basically kicked to the curb. Nomar went on to have a stud-like year.3) Cubs need for an outfielder like Milton Bradley had Dusty flying out to LA to meet with Bradley personally. Colletti traded him to Oakland instead. 4) Maddux for Izturis. 5) Signed Kenny Lofton, who would have been better than Pierre at nearly half the price. Where was Nomar going to play if the Cubs decided to re-sign him? The OF, probably. With his history of leg injuries, I would have been amazed if he would have stayed healthy an entire season if he played the OF in 06. Why? The outfield is much easier on the legs than being on the infield every day.
  4. 3, 4 years down the road is when you make this highsight assessment, and I'd have kept Aldridge before I would've drafted Roy. It's been awhile since I mentioned it, but I REALLY wanted Aldridge. I just had the thought of Mizzou playing Aldridge and Durant while they were on the same college team. I guess I didn't really want to sleep after all.
  5. Calvin and Hobbes? Yes. Awesome.
  6. :( Second Bulls game in a row they're the end of a back-to-back. At least Wade is done for the trip to Miami on Sunday.
  7. I would guess Price, since most colleges pitch their ace on Friday night when there is a weekend series, and Price last pitched on the 18th.
  8. Minor league career: .262/.297/.332/.629 Major league career: .259/.295/.336/.631
  9. As long as Theriot is in the mix, I disagree. Meh, hard to imagine Theriot getting significant time in RF.
  10. Not necessarily. And this sucks about DeRosa not being in the mix in the OF.
  11. I agree but look at this, I stole it from one of the illiniboards. Look at our 9 losses. At Xavier(They are 16-1 at home). At home to Maryland(They are 1 of only 3 ACC teams with a winning road record). At home to Ohio St. & Wisky(Aren't they #1 & #2 in the country?) At Indiana(Hoosiers are undefeated at home). At Mich. St.(They are 18-1 at home). At Purdue(They are 16-1 at home). At Mich.(They are 16-2 at home). At Arizona. If there is such a thing as quality losses, this is it. We are like fiftieth in the polls, that's ridiculous! Winthrop, Drexel, Akron, BYU, Creighton, Appalachian St, are you kidding me? They are all ranked ahead of us, way ahead. We should be in. Thanks UIloyalfan The other side of that coin is what are the big wins that U of I has? The home half of splits against IU and MSU, and a neutral court win over Bradley are the best wins on the resume. Minnesota and Northwestern are the only true road wins. To compare to MSU, they also don't have any road wins of mention(although they have trips to Ann Arbor and Madison yet), but they had a much harder conference schedule, and they've got some better wins in hand(Texas on a neutral court, Wisconsin).
  12. yay the Cavs are good again not quite sure how they went from 2 games back last night to 3 games back tonight after beating the Raptors though
  13. No joke. Disney doesn't go half way with any of that stuff in Orlando.
  14. I like the scenario of Theriot facing RHP instead of Derosa. I don't think we've all hammered it into the ground here yet, but over his career, Derosa is almost as bad against righties as Jones has been against lefties. I really wish that Derosa wasn't going to be our starting second baseman because in today's game, you don't normally see infielders platooned, and using Derosa that way would provide the most benefit. Eric Patterson hits righties pretty well. Maybe Patterson or Theriot goes uber-bonkers and wins 2B outright. At least there are potential alternatives there.
  15. Keon is nails, what a dagger this shot was. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/cubsfan_05/smb_6283.jpg
  16. I didn't see it, but apparently during the MSU-UW game they panned to the crowd at Rupp Arena, where someone had a sign that read "Tim Hardaway hates LSU".
  17. Michigan State won too? Today is an awesome basketball day. Texas is laying a beatdown on Tech, up 22 near the end of the first half.
  18. Real big game tonight. Lots of shuffling going on in the middle of the Big 12, hopefully Mizzou can get their 3rd in a row against an OU team that hasn't fared very well on the road. Lunardi is normally very, very good with his predictions. I'd really like to believe that the Big 12 has that much weight, if for nothing else that it keeps a shred of hope that Mizzou could get an at-large with a miracle spurt to end the season, but I don't think that's the case. The Big 12 is down this year, 7th in RPI(just below the Valley and above the Mountain West) among conferences, and I'm not sure if KSU is guaranteed a spot considering some of the other conference crunches, unless they beat one of the other 3 tourney teams(KU, aTm, Texas) in the conference tourney. My only thought is we have already beaten Texas AT Texas. If USC hadn't have lost to ASU, that would have been a pretty nice win too. That's definitely an impressive win, but unfortunately that's the only one. KSU is 1-5 against the RPI Top 50, and OSU is the only team left on the schedule that fits that bill. Even then, the catch-22 is that OSU likely loses to aTm tomorrow, meaning that if KSU beats them too they drop out of the top 50. Also, while the Texas win is great, it's countered somewhat by bad losses against New Mexico and Colorado St.

  20. Theriot should be the other half of the Jones platoon. Soriano is in CF, so Jones in RF and DeRosa(Or Theriot if he beats him out) at 2B against RHP, and DeRosa in RF and Theriot at 2B against LHP.
  21. Noah existed. The ref has to handle the ball first, so no matter who's holding it there's no reason for Noah to flip out and try to get it back. Then there's the matter of it being the opposing coach with the ball, which anyone with a modicum of common sense knows you don't instigate anything with during the game. PS- I thought I already made this post, but apparently I didn't. So if you see something similar in a Soriano thread or something, there you go.
  22. Why look at a stat when you can just watch every game in the history of time to see who the best fielder is! In all seriousness, the most reliable fielding metrics are based on play-by-play data.
  23. Wade Miller Is that what the caption says? My guess was Wuertz.
