  1. Subject to change until the draft, but I'm pretty sure it'll be: RB Willie Parker PIT RB Joseph Addai IND RB Maurice Jones-Drew JAX
  2. Duke's probably gonna need surgery eventually, right? We'll pay for him to rehab with us for Izturis.
  3. what exactly is Ryan Church without the walks? Angel Pagan w/o the speed? Plus the ability to hit.
  4. A 27-28 year old who can't hit out of KU and the Cardinals organization? I say we stone him. If you really want him dead, just put him on Mizzou's hoops roster. He's bound to be shot or beaten up outside a DQ in no time. As for Donaldson, I'd like to see him promoted, too. Also, is the prevailing wisdom still that mateo will be used as trade bait this year? You have it backwards, we're the ones who decide that beating someone down with a shotgun is a worthy endeavor. As for Mateo, I hope they use him as insurance against injury. They're screwing around with Gallagher so much he won't be ready if needed to start games competitively.
  5. Thanks guys. Good to hear that he might have the ability to play a passable CF on occasion.
  6. Does anyone have an old BA handbook or something that scouts his defensive abilities?
  7. That's some pretty cool info, thanks.
  8. Dempster's still on schedule. He should be back later this week. This is probably a move just to help them until then. Koyie Hill is the only guy likely to be sent down (after passing through waivers). It's either him or a trade. Could be Floyd to the DL too.
  9. It's ridiculous to think that Cuban would even drop a hint as to what his actual top bid might be. If he wanted to play that poker game, he'd drop a highball bid to scare off other potential bidders. But he'd have to make the leak a lot more authentic than telling FOX Sports Radio. Anyone else think that Cuban's chances for a successful MLB owners vote would go up much if he partnered with a more conservative, Selig-palatable co-owner? I'm talking about perceptions here ... ideally this co-owner would, in reality, be a hands-off, glorified investor. Wasn't the guy Wagner going to be his minority owner? Does he fit that bill?
  10. We want to acquire Reggie Sanders(who is so old even the Giants got rid of him, five years ago) after he was just activated from the 60 Day DL? Just promote Murton.
  11. I'd be fine with this. The thing I'm worried about is getting a hold of Burnt and Uber. They haven't been heard from in months.
  12. Something to consider, we started the draft last year almost two weeks ago, and didn't finish until early September. Maybe we should get on with declaring keepers?
  13. What's the timetable for receiving bids and announcing who the high bidder is?
  14. In 2001 he sat because he was young, he could have pitched through it. 2002-2004 he had no injuries. 2005 he got sick which limited him a few starts thats not an injury. Late in the year he got hurt with an injury that was going to take 9-12 months to recover from, he came back early and aggravated the issue (yes the lat is directly related to the shoulder). He has had one major injury in 6.5 years. Imagine next year Zambrano goes down in May, misses the rest of the season and then is just fine in 2009. Is he injury prone because he only has 39 starts over 2 seasons. If Sheets doesn't try to come back and is just hurt for a full season would he no longer have the injury prone tag? To me it seems like the reasoning for the tag is because he tried to come back too early and ended up on the DL again for a couple months, that seems silly to me. Many, many injuries are related to previous injuries. Pitchers try to compensate for previous injuries with their mechanics and wind up hurting something else(Prior comes immediately to mind). So, Sheets having a shoulder injury, coming back and hurting his lat may have the same root cause, but he's still missing time for it and it begs the question as to if he can right himself and consistently make his starts.
  15. The problem with adding a starting pitcher is that our worst starting pitcher isn't going to get taken out of the rotation even if we get another arm.
  16. Argh, Marquis is pitching when I go to the Cubs/Cards game next week.
  17. A 27-28 year old who can't hit out of KU and the Cardinals organization? I say we stone him.
  18. Dopirak? He's putting up mediocre/bad numbers in Daytona.
  19. playing golf. Analyst for College Baseball. No joke.
  20. I really hope we don't trade for a reliever. And trading a player the caliber of Gallagher for a couple months of Gagne and/or Lofton is a terrible, terrible idea. My philosophy for acquisitions this deadline is go big, or go with the kid. Marginal upgrades for OF or SS aren't going to be worth the cost when we can just take similar gambles on Cedeno/Pie/Murton.
  21. Yes to the former, no to the latter.
  22. That's what I thought too, unless he's commented about it since then.
