  1. Ho-hum for Iowa Patterson: 1 for 4, HR, BB, K Pie: 2 for 5 Murton: 2 for 5, K Soto: 2 for 5, 2 K Cedeno: 3 for 4 Moore: 2 for 3, 3B, HR, Sac Fly
  2. MLS All-Stars up 2-0 on Celtic FC at the half. Obviously MLS is midseason while Celtic is still in preseason, but they are getting run right now.
  3. Eddie Johnson just got STUFFED on a PK Celtic's keeper has been very impressive.
  4. Maybe we could work out a couple hours to do it live?
  5. If they can't be contacted, I vote we find their replacements. Yeah, I think we have to consider this. How long do we give them? And who would we ask to take their teams? August 1 sounds like a good date to me. That gives us a full month or so to draft. As far as who replaces them, we can always just post a thread in the General Fantasy Sports section asking for a replacement or two. August 1 until we start looking for a replacement, or do we start drafting August 1? If we need to find someone else I think we could afford to be a little selective about it. What say everyone? And get your keepers in, Tobias, ChiCubs, and Vance. I say Aug 1 until we look for a replacement. The first game isn't until the first week of september, right? So then maybe by the end of the first week of Aug we could start the draft (assuming we can find someone quickly). Is that going to be cutting it tight? That's less than half as much time as it took us last year.

  7. Chris Carpenter p 5 years/$63.5M (2007-11), plus $15M 2012 club option * signed extension through 2011 12/06 o 07:$8.5M, 08:$10.5M, 09:$14M, 10:$14.5M, 11:$15M, 12:$15M club option ($1M buyout) o replaces final year & 2008 option from previous contract o $8M deferred without interest ($2M annually, 2009-12) o award bonuses: $0.25M for Cy Young ($0.1M for 2nd-3rd place, $50,000 for 4th-5th), $50,000 each for All Star selection, MVP, Gold Glove or LDS, LCS or WS MVP Yikes. They're guaranteeing Edmonds (.702 OPS) 8 million next year and Rolen (.709 OPS) 12 million through 2010 too.
  8. Hernandez is going to repeat Peoria next year and absolutely dominate, I feel it. Lets go Atkins, continue to show you should be a Smokie.
  9. Yep. I say you DL Floyd. Keeping Ward day-to-day at least keeps someone who's first position is 1B on the roster, and it makes the decision of who to call up(Murton) that much easier. Plus from what I read it looked like a re-aggravation of Floyd's previous injury so it's probably the more severe of the two.
  10. if fontenot can get as hot as he was, this team will look tough to beat. the problem being that milwaukee looks pretty tough to beat as well. I want to see them go back on the road where they're like 7 games below .500.
  11. What inning is it? My internal count says it should be the bottom of 4 when those runs just scored, but Yahoo is up to the top of the 5th and still says 5-3 Cubs.
  12. My goodness, is this as Looney Tunes as Yahoo is making it out to be?
  13. If there still time to offer the Reds Dempster and Murton More like Pagan and Petrick.
  14. haha, Gwynn, Wise, and a prospect Unless the prospect's Gallardo, Krivsky just one-upped his Kearns-Lopez deal.
  15. Think marginal benefit, guys. Dunn replaces Gwynn's production for a bit until Hall gets back, but their LF platoon had a .780 OPS(although light on OBP) this year. Obviously this makes them stronger, but it's not as if they're replacing a black hole with Dunn. What's the rumor on who Milwaukee is sending?
  16. Is that Haren game the same game Marrero tore his ACL slipping on the wet outfield grass?
  17. No. It's not so much that all those guys are super valuable(except Gallagher, who's the best pitching prospect in the system), but including ALL of them at once is a bit much. Fair enough - that is why I asked. OK, so what about Gallagher and Soto? Does that get it done? Reds want more? Considering it's Krivsky, but at the same time other teams are interested in Dunn, I'd start at something like Veal + Petrick with a window to get an extension for Dunn, and work from there. You going to tell me that's a better deal then the Brewers one too? Calm down, it's a starting point. And besides, my original point in the thread was that Brewers offer isn't all that great for Dunn, and we should get in on it if it's going to be that low a price.
  18. We'll just pretend that's what they're paying Theriot to actually be somewhat useful at SS. I wouldn't have had a problem with paying 6/3 of Izturis' remaining contract. Sometimes it's just better to pay someone to play for someone else than to continue playing him on your own team. I don't get it... why would Selig allow this and not the Jacque Jones deal? Because Selig didn't veto any Jacque Jones deal.
  19. Yeah, I think they chose Fox because he's the best option of people that could handle 1B, and then send him back when Dempster comes off the DL. It's more likely they'll send Gallagher down tomorrow when Dempster is activated' otherwise they'd have 13 pitchers. I think a more likely scenerio is that Fox stays up this weekend while Lee is serving his suspension, then when Lee returns next Tuesday Fox goes back down and Cedeno comes up. But with just a few games, couldn't they cover 1B in house? Why wait on Cedeno? Putting DeRosa at 1B leaves no backup 2B, SS, or 3B on the bench.
  20. Yeah, I think they chose Fox because he's the best option of people that could handle 1B, and then send him back when Dempster comes off the DL.
