  1. Not a very exciting pitching day aside from Wood's rehab. Hopefully the hitters at Boise stay hot through the doubleheader.
  2. Did Fontenot start running from his knees? It took forever for that ball to get from Cruz's hand to 2nd base and he was still dead to rights.
  3. Pretty disappointing to not score Pagan. We got the lead back though, let's get a quick inning Rich.
  4. Has Hill thrown a curveball for a strike yet today?
  5. it was definitely a swing Probably, but Ramirez half stepped towards first so the home plate umpire was screened. ps go pick your keepers for fantasy football
  6. Don't be stupid Ramirez, he can't throw a strike to save his life, it wasn't intentional.
  7. Owings isn't going to last very long at this rate. Make it hurt please.
  8. Only 14 pitches for Rich. Good inning aside from the Byrnes at bat.
  9. A team that is only 1 game back of the Cubs is a bigger threat than a team that is 6 games back. If they begin to catch up, we'll worry about that later. I am not concerned with the WC until we get to Mid August. I don't want a team in our division that we face 10 more times to be on any kind of roll. We play them next week to make sure that doesn't happen. The Cards simply do not have the talent this year.
  10. Another good outing for Atkins, 6 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 7/2 K/BB Colvin is getting overwhelmed at AA. He's now got a .625 OPS with a 25/1 K/BB ratio in 102 ABs. Marquez Smith seems to be hitting his stride at Boise. After a slow start he's hitting .301/.404/.507/.911 with 14 walks to 13 K's in July. Similar stories for Ty Wright and Kyler Burke too. Burke is hitting .333/.447/.564/1.011 with 10/7 K/BB this month, and Wright is .342/.420/.487/.907 with 8/7 K/BB.
  11. Pretty much, but he's got the defensive ability/reputation to actually get playing time in RF. Fun fact about Ethier: His OBP and SLG are identical this year v. RHP and LHP. Only a 4 point difference in OPS last year too, so he's not a guy that needs a platoon partner. I mentioned trading for Vazquez and then using Marshall in a deal, but the Dodgers want starting pitching, what about a 3-way deal with Ethier/Murton/Vazquez as main components?
  12. Ethier would be sensational. In another thread talking about the rotation I suggested adding someone like Vazquez, maybe that would free up the flexibility to deal Marshall in that type of move.
  13. Stairs would be a real smart addition. Hopefully the price is right.
  14. His contract isn't all that great, but what about Javier Vazquez?
  15. One of them was a pretty poor call. Everything else was legit.
  16. I don't know for sure, but he threw those 4 innings on Wednesday, so normal rest for him would be Monday. However, he only threw 55 pitches, and IIRC the Iowa rotation has been in shreds somewhat, so you may luck out.
  17. Fixed. If you can live with Floyd in RF then you can live with Murton in RF exactly. and it's not like rf is catcher or ss...murton could become an adequate rf with a little work. maybe they should have had him play some rf in spring training. To add on, from Road To Wrigley:
  18. Dempster coming back is going to do a lot for that. So will the possible re-emergence of Wuertz or Wood.
  19. Send Marquis to start the 8th. After Snyder it forces a LH PH which allows you to bring in Ohman for 2 LH and a switch hitter.
