  1. Is he really any better than Dempster? And Dempster's our 5th best right handed reliever. I could see us buying low on a LH reliever(if possible with how much GMs love them), but I don't see it from the right side.
  2. One would hope that a Murton for Byrd deal would be dead from the get go because of Texas' asking price, but good news nonetheless.
  3. Haha, the Cavs just beat the Wizards with 8 players, 2 of which were called up from the D-League yesterday.
  4. More than Theriot hitting 2nd? Or are you saying it irritates you because Theriot should be hitting 8th? Yeah, there's a bit of cause and effect there with Theriot hitting 2nd, but even if Theriot was 7th it really irritates me. Pie hitting 8th is the one spot where it sets him up to fail, since it's the one spot in the lineup where he's likely to get pitched to much differently with the pitcher on deck. I really hope ST works out that he hits his way out of the bottom of the order, or Theriot "hits" his way down to the 8 spot.
  5. Pie hitting 8th irritates me more than any other lineup decision.
  6. I'm sure there's a drunk windowbreaker in Lawrence who got wasted last night and went on a rant about "if they had played another quarter, they would've beaten Mizzou by two touchdowns". Best of luck buying your way up to the Gator Bowl next season.
  7. There's most definitely a huge difference between the two. Pie does everything better, and has proven it in his MiLB performance.
  8. So for my Cavs, it's out with Gooden Hughes Marshall Newble Simmons and in with Wallace Szczerbiak Smith West 2nd rounder Well, aside from Gooden v. Wallace, that looks like an improvement on all fronts. West and Wally will go a long way in helping out until Pavlovic and Gibson get healthy, and Wallace will be a really expensive Varejao while he gets healthy. And that means once everyone's healthy, there's Ilgauskas, Wallace, Varejao, Smith in the frontcourt, James, Pavlovic, Wally as wings, and West, Gibson, and Damon Jones/Eric Snow as guards. Could be worse, especially since LBJ handles the ball/triggers the offense so much.
  9. http://heylarryhughespleasestoptakingsomanybadshots.com/ Apparently Szczerbiak to the Cavs is official according to ESPNews(via some RealGM poster), but it's not a part of a deal with the bulls.
  10. What is wrong with you Ferry? Did you have to outsabotage Brown after he started playing Ira Newble for major minutes?
  11. I like the idea of 11 since Soto's eligibility is gone. This list is hard to make for bad reasons, for me at least. 1. Gallagher 2. Soto 3. Vitters 4. Donaldson 5. Thomas 6. Hernandez 7. Ceda 8. EPatt 9. Huseby 10. Colvin 11. Petrick
  12. Those White jerseys & those Blue Jerseys are freaking awesome.
  13. I like the blues, but if they do anything jersey-wise, get rid of the pinstripes on the home jerseys and add some blue accents a la the Dodgers or Giants. That would be the uberjersey.
  14. Keep fighting the good fight on K-State. They're the team getting knocked off by a 12 seed for sure.
  15. Me and Cubbies75 concentrated on how our basketball team is littered with idiots. Score one for us. My favorite was SSR picking Chester Frazier 3rd Team All-Big 10.
  16. Relatively terrible. I do find their NBA comparisons hilarious though, since they try to find someone who looks like the guy more than someone who plays like that person.
  17. No kidding, I've been alright until that video, now I'm really wanting some baseball.
  18. Unfortunately, Cintron's career splits are skewed by his career year in 2003. He hasn't had an OBP above .326 against RHP since then. Still, a fair point that if Cedeno is traded/bombs he could be moderately useful instead of Theriot's awfulness against RHP.
  19. How could I forget Wuertz? Man we are loaded in RH RP.
  20. It'd be awesome if we just used Dempster as the 4th RH reliever behind Marmol, Wood, and Howry. If we use them all before the 9th inning, then use Dempster then. Otherwise, those 3 finish the game with Dempster doing impersonations in the pen.
  21. JEREMY GIAMBI WAS SAFE No one will ever convince me otherwise.
  22. Stopping yourself is the other big reason.
  23. "Diving to the base" might be a touch faster, but like you said the odds of you not killing yourself make it not worth the hassle. Plus, there's the "deceiving" of the umpire when you do that which might negate the slight advantage anyway.
  24. Maybe if you're measuring 1600 meter times, but when you're talking about fraction of second differences like sliding into first v. running through, your experiment doesn't have much value.
  25. Illinois at #23 seems a bit low. Do they think Mendenhall was the only reason Illinois was good? He'll be tough to replace, but I think Illinois will be in the thick of the Big Ten race. It's not underselling them too much I think. They only return 14 starters v. 19 from Penn State and Wisconsin, and they lost their best/most important player on both sides of the ball. That said, it's not like they left them out of the Top 25 and put PSU and Wisconsin in the Top 10, they're grouped close enough that it's a relative tossup who they think finishes behind OSU.
