  1. Why is this in the Top Ten Prospects thread, the guy who posted that there is a moron
  2. good thinking Soriano, it's Petco, the ball is not going over your head
  3. Time to begin preparing Samardzija's HOF bust. 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 5/0 K/BB Tony Thomas is 3 for 4 with a double for Daytona.
  4. Hamels has given up 5 HR against us, but only 8 ER, how does that happen
  5. They've played exactly 0 games against Arizona, Atlanta, Florida, New York, and Philadelphia, plus they have 12 games left with us. Wellemeyer is about to surpass his high IP since he was a Daytona Cub in 2002, and Lohse, Piniero, and Looper were all awful in May. They have only 3 hitters OPSing over .800, Pujols, the super overachieving Ludwick, and Ankiel(another person who fell off in May). I think there's plenty of room for them to fall off.
  6. Hopefully Chris Duncan gets traded or released and Dave doesn't see the need to stay around any longer.
  7. To elaborate, get a more bankable OF than McLouth. Looking it up, Pedroia's a better fantasy option than I thought, but you can do better than two guys who have a lot of potential variance in their performance the remainder of the season.
  8. Anyone got more on McKenna or Hudson? McKenna especially seems intriguing as low as 161.
  9. It's been mentioned before, but the Cubs are actually outscoring teams on the road. If that continues, they'll end up a couple games above .500 on the road, which very, very few teams did last year.
  10. 22-19 is about an 87 win pace. 12-17 is about a 67 win pace.
  11. I like Blanco catching with Soto DHing against LHP. Neither he nor Cedeno have a platoon split, and the benefit of keeping Soto fresh outweighs the slight benefit of Cedeno getting extra AB's.
  12. He's really come on strong, .677 OPS in April to .944 in May. With no one really at 3B for Daytona(Lansford is just bad), he really should get a look at a promotion soon.
  13. Sickels has a 5 round mock up at minorleagueball.com, I'm not sure how many people were involved, but it was a community thing. Here are the Cub picks. 19) Chicago Cubs: Gerrit Cole, RHP, California HS 41) Cubs: David Cooper, 1B, California 65) Cubs: Tim Murphy, LHP, UCLA 97) Cubs: Aaron Weatherford, RHP, Mississippi State 131) Cubs: Kyle Hudson, OF, Illinois 161) Cubs: Mike McKenna, OF, Florida Atlantic
  14. Technically yes, practically no.
  15. Don't forget Cruz.
  16. I've always found monthly splits as a fun way to see how our perceptions match reality. Here's how May went. Hoffpauir: 15 ABs, .467/.500/.667/1.167 Soriano: 116, .345/.386/.672/1.058 Zambrano: 21, .429/.429/.619/1.048 Ramirez: 88, .318/.429/.489/.917 Blanco: 17, .353/.353/.529/.882 Soto: 96, .271/.357/.510/.868 Fontenot: 32, .250/.429/.438/.866 DeRosa: 87, .310/.364/.471/.835 Fukudome: 99, .293/.388/.404/.792 Theriot: 104, .308/.407/.337/.743 Johnson: 71, .225/.309/.394/.703 Lee: 124, .234 .269/.411/.681 Edmonds: 28, .214/.241/.357/.599 Cedeno: 40, .225/.311/.250/.561 And the pitchers: Eyre: 6.1 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, 6/1 K/BB Cotts: 1.2, 0.00, 1.80, 2/2 Wuertz: 13.1, 1.35, 0.98, 8/4 Howry: 15.1, 1.76, 1.24, 15/3 Ascanio: 5, 1.80, 1.40, 3/3 Marmol: 18.2, 1.93, 0.75, 31/7 Dempster: 38.1, 2.35, 1.12, 41/14 Zambrano: 40.1, 2.35, 1.12, 23/15 Wood: 16.2, 2.70, 0.96, 20/4 Gallagher: 26, 4.50, 1.38, 17/10 Lilly: 34.1, 4.72, 1.31, 36/8 Lieber: 15, 4.80, 1.67, 9/1 Marquis: 27.2, 5.53, 1.66, 15/12
  17. Fun fact: Zambrano hasn't given up a run in PetCo. 2 starts, 14 IP, 7 H, 17/7 K/BB
  18. 10 rpg and 2 bpg in 25.2 mpg is being good at basketball. No, it's being a blunt instrument playing in Conference USA.
  19. What did he say this time? Lemme guess, it's somehow the Cubs fault right? I like how Kenny forgot he was using an appositive in the last quote.
  20. Dorsey is Ben Wallace, except for some reason he acts like he's good at basketball. He's somehow more annoying than Noah.
  21. It's his first start back from the DL.
  22. If we didn't have an 8 game handicap, I might consider them a threat. I've seen 8 game leads disappear far to often to be comfortable though. Actually the Brewers can tell us a thing or two about 8 games leads that evaporate 8-) Last year on June 1 we were 7.5 games back, but our run differential was +8 to Milwaukee's +11. Right now on June 2 we're 11 games better than Cincy Pythagorean-wise. It's not really comparable.
  23. It's not that hard to kick a ball 60 yards, especially compared to all the other stuff in the poll.
  24. Teixeira/Montanez/Hill/Choi
