  1. Actually, it's pretty easy to have a reason to not like the selection of a college reliever in the first round, especially one that's as unpolished as Cashner is.
  2. Melville, Hunt, Jake O, Kelly, Collier, and Gillaspie all around and 12 picks til the Cubs.
  3. Those predictions are very optimistic and probably a couple years from being realized(both of them).
  4. The Cubs taking and paying Melville would make me feel better about taking Cashner. Alex Meyer and Issac Galloway are two more names to consider for 41.
  5. Add Cole to that list of possibilities for 41, forgot about him. Hopefully Melville and Kelly go soon, I'm not sure we'd pay them their demands in the Sandwich round.
  6. Consistent 96-98mph fastball is rated as a 60? What does it take to get to 70 or 80? Movement. Maybe command of it too, I can't remember if that's considered.
  7. Okay, Friedrich, Hunt, Collier, Melville, Kelly, Gillaspie, Odorizzi, and Havens would all make good picks at 41. Any chance one of them makes it there?

  9. 19. Andrew Cashner, RHR, Texas Christian Bio: 6′5, 185, Bats R, Throws R, 21 years old The Skinny: This 6-foot-6 righty has been flying up the boards of late, and at least in our eyes, is now the top college reliever in the class. With a fastball that’s been reportedly touching 98 MPH, the TCU righty has been close to untouchable out of the pen. Teams may balk at his lack of track record and closing experience, but others will salivate over his electric arm, projectable frame, and makings of an out-pitch slider. Many teams like his clean arm and feel for a changeup enough to project him as a starter with his newfound velocity, but Cashner lacks feel and command at times and is still raw. Some teams think he could start, which would boost his profile significantly, and there is reportedly interest in the top 10, all the way up to #6 (Marlins). Otherwise, teams like Seattle, Philadelphia, and the Mets are rumored to be looking college reliever in the late teens and early 20s. Pros: Fresh arm, Fastball velocity Cons: Track record, Polish Comparison: Chris Ray Adjusted OFP: 55
  10. JeffH gets to make his Fire Wilken website if Collier isn't the pick here.
  11. Crow to the Nats is better than him haunting us in Cincy or Houston.
  12. I'm trying my best not to get too excited yet. If he falls past the Cards at 13, I'll start getting pretty pumped. Yeah, I read at GRB today that StL won't let Crow get past them.
  13. Does someone mind putting up the picks as they happen? At least for the first round and maybe the sandwich? So far: TB: Tim Beckham Pit: Pedro Alvarez KC: Eric Hosmer
  14. EST? Unless it goes faster than last year, you'll miss it by 5-10 minutes.
  15. Since it's 1:00 and there's no real ongoing debate here, I'll go ahead and lock this thread.
  16. hahaha http://www.saberscouting.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/the-beckhams.jpg
  17. I went back and read the article about it, it looks like Ethan getting called out is what led to the team being upset, but Cody Martin(who I assume is his brother) was the pitcher when the ump got drilled.
  18. Really? I heard he had a real good curve, but that he was 3 starter at best. I'd hope for more upside than that out of #19.
  19. ~.300 is normal, so for a successful pitcher like Rich to be around .280 isn't that bad. As for the LD%, Rich gives up his share of HR, and like you mentioned K's a lot of guys, so that might be part of it, but I don't think he was a significant beneficiary of BABIP luck.
  20. I think it's hard to say. Last year was the first time in 4 years I believe that they had played the game, and there were empty seats everywhere since neither team had sky-high expectations for the season. This year will be a completely different animal, so I don't know what to expect as far as ticket availability. I'd think one of the school websites or the whatever-financial-company-they're-calling-it-today dome website would be able to help with the group rate stuff.
  21. Please don't excite me with the possibility of Crow falling to 19.
  22. That would be outstanding. I'm hoping someone like Melville falls to us, if only to force them to reconsider Kelly(since that's who they seem set on).
