  1. After tonight's double header, EPatt is hitting .325/.364/.500 in about 175 PA's and is 8/8 in SBs. He's improved each month, going from a .775 OPS in April, to a .879 in May, with a 1.014 thus far in June.
  2. Marquez Smith went 4 for 5 and is now OPSing near .900. It's time for him to go to Daytona.
  3. Actually, all the other gimmicks seem to have broken him.
  4. Because then he'll chop grounders to short that go through. You're screwed either way, as much as someone giving up a single can be screwed.
  5. That's what happens when you throw more than you have in several years in 1/3 of the time. You lose effectiveness(Braden Looper), or you get hurt. ps that means you're next Dempster, hope Hill and Marshall are healthy
  6. Edmonds almost broke himself trying to find that ball
  7. If Milwaukee wins they pass Florida for that spot, so it'd remain 6.5 up on the playoffs.
  8. Their bad pitch selection evened out ours. Now way Fukudome should have seen a slider there. I also didn't like the fastball to Kent. Howry was up in the count and should have wasted a slider or two on him. As a reliever, you can't be a one-pitch pitcher. Kent hit that HR on a 1-1 count.
  9. That's too bad, it seemed like a nice surface. I was there for Little 500 and we walked right into the stadium and onto the field without trouble.
  10. Has Lou ever said why he puts the two lefties back to back? After all those years of trying to "break up the right handedness" we put them back to back more often than not.
  11. Lots of intriguing arms in this draft. Cashner Shafer Carpenter Jackson Wilson Coleman Gray and my homer favorite, Cales. Hard to think there's not a good major leaguer in that group.
  12. Oh, Wolf is going to be pissed. No Jozy for the Argentina friendly. Goalkeepers- Dominic Cervi (out of contract), Brad Guzan (Chivas USA), Tim Howard (Everton FC) Defenders- Dan Califf (FC Midtjylland), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jay DeMerit (Watford FC), Frankie Hejduk (Columbus Crew), Oguchi Onyewu (Standard de Liege), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock) Midfielders- Freddy Adu (SL Benfica), DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers), Michael Bradley (SC Heerenveen), Maurice Edu (Toronto FC), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA), Eddie Lewis (Derby County), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids) Forwards- Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Clint Dempsey (Fulham FC), Eddie Johnson (Fulham FC)
  13. Woo Calvert. Maybe he'll last a full year in the system, unlike Taylor Parker.
  14. Sean Buckley - 3B King High School - Tampa, FL

  16. Fastball: Gray threw his fastball in the low 90s and touched 93 mph. It was hittable when he left it up in the zone. Fastball movement: It wasn't completely straight; there was a little movement. Curve: He showed a good breaking ball that was plus at times. Slider: It really blends in with the curve to make one pitch. It's a power curve when he's throwing it right. Changeup: He rarely showed a changeup in this outing. Control: He was around the plate with all of his stuff. Poise: He was a good competitor on the mound. Physical Description: Gray is a good, but undersized athletic right-hander. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: He's got a quick arm with good command and two decent offerings he can throw for strikes. Weaknesses: Mostly his size. High school right-handers who are small always have to prove themselves more. Summary: Those who saw Gray over the summer -- and liked him -- saw more or less the same pitcher near the start of his high school season. He'll have to make believers out of those who shy away from undersized righties, but Gray's fastball and breaking ball -- and his command of those two pitches -- might be very persuasive

  18. I didn't mind the sliders to Pierre. He doesn't need to get around on a fastball to flip it into LF for a game tying single and a blown save. He looked ridiculous trying to swing at the slider for strike 2, I don't blame him for trying to throw more of them in the zone after that point.
  19. Appreciate the synopsis, cubsin03.

  21. It doesn't look like Cales pitched this year. He's in the team photo though. Injury I guess? No link to his 2007 numbers, unfortunately.
