  1. He's much better at throwing the ball to receivers that have no one around them for 15 yards in any direction than I thought. Seriously though, he did a fine job after a slow start accuracy wise. He would've been the hero of the game if he didn't have to make up a 4 TD deficit in 20 minutes. Related to that deficit, I was very happy with how Mizzou's O-Line did against that U of I front seven. Daniel's only sack was on a roll out, he wasn't evading sacks the whole game, and they did a nice job blocking for Washington. Who was Davis covering the whole night? I saw the nice deflection on the one sideline ball to Perry, but didn't notice him in particular(although I had no idea it was Saunders that caught the 3rd quarter TDs, to give you an idea of my seats) aside from that.
  2. If the closest moment in the second half is Illinois getting to the edge of the red zone down 2 scores, then immediately getting sacked and throwing a pick, I think that answers the question.
  3. I'm not getting the analogy. It's not like you guys pulled your starters. It's not like you were in the prevent, Juice was throwing over your secondary. It was pretty much a carbon copy of last year's game, and man am I pissed at the pants-wetting that our defense did. Illinois led for about 10 seconds the entirety of the game. Mizzou was up at least 2 scores for the entirety of the second half, and by as many as 25 points. It wasn't close.
  4. That was quite a fun time. And I don't know if humbled is the right word, but Truffle's obviously referring to what Warp dubbed the "lame smack talk" earlier in the thread. Good thing Mizzou won. Again.
  5. Tirod Taylor or however you spell his first name has been mentioned about a million times during the broadcast, and if they want to burn his redshirt. BG up 10 now.
  6. VTech gets bearmerballed, blocked punt for the go ahead touchdown with under 2 to play. The only question now is which ECU player Glennon throws an interception to. Bowling Green beating Pitt too. Herbstreit looks like a genius.
  7. The better team is much more likely to get hot over 30 games.
  8. The Cubs have 4 RH relievers that hold LH hitters to a .715 OPS or less. LH hitters have only 2 singles in 24 ABs against Samardzija. Plus Cotts and Marshall are currently in the pen. They're fine.
  9. Don't worry about blank. You let me worry about blank. Blank? Blank?! You're not looking at the big picture!
  10. Re: Neutral site games, I read that U of I's AD(is it still Guenther?) wants out of the Mizzou game, or at the very least wants it out of St. Louis and continuing as a home and home. Not sure how true that is, but there it is. Also, Mizzou-kansas may not stay at Arrowhead. Iowa State and Kansas State recently signed a deal to play at Arrowhead starting next year(the JUCO bowl, as it were). That may not be the same week, but it might be an indication that neither Mizzou or kansas have an interest in keeping the neutral site.
  11. Villanueva pitching a second inning when he threw 24 pitches in his first inning is well, awesome.
  12. Please tell me Braun didn't rob Mientkiewicz of a home run.
  13. Adam. Probably for arguing after he got rung up on a pitch a yard outside with multiple runners on.
  14. This is what happens when Salomon Torres is your best reliever.
  15. CC got a break http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/3307/luckycclo3.jpg
  16. If the Cubs play to their records they have against their September opponents, they'll go 14-11 in September. In which case the Brewers will have to play like .750 ball for 5 weeks to catch us.
  17. I imagine Dempster will be back. Marquis is under contract. If Marquis is dealt, or Dempster not brought back, I imagine Marshall, Samardzija, and Hill will be the guys in the mix for that last spot.
  18. Is that updated with today's outing? No. And yeah Truffle, I wasn't trying to say that makes him an MVP candidate, although it puts him right there with Lincecum for the most valuable pitcher in the league.
  19. Hitting + Pitching VORP Dempster: 45.7 Zambrano: 53.9
  20. How many starting hitters hit .366 let alone pitchers? How much more valuable does 70 ABs make Zambrano than say Dempster? Much.
  21. I tried to spread the word with my campaign to get him 2005 Minor League POY, but that fell on deaf ears.
  22. It's a postgame quote where he's upset that Fukudome didn't drive in a run where he should have been able to. The quote only talked about the specific situation, didn't talk about the offense as a whole, and there was nothing from before or after the quote to give context to it. It's definitely indicative of Lou's continued frustration with Kosuke(however justified it may be), but to blame the whole lack of offense on Kosuke? He didn't even say anything about that one run making a difference, he only talked about the lack of execution.
  23. No one is saying Lou is blaming Fukudome for the entire lack of offense. But we lost by 1 and he clearly called out Fukudome's AB for not picking up the RBI with a guy on 3rd and less than 2 outs. It's not a stretch to say he's putting a hefty amount of blame for the loss on Fukudome. I think that it is quite a stretch unless there's more context than the snippet provided in the first post. You don't know what question he's responding to, or if he talked about other failures before or after that quote.
  24. I think it takes quite a bit of extrapolation to say that Lou is pinning the loss or the lack of offense last night on Kosuke.
