  1. My favorite part is the "if there's even a little malfeasance, Saban's gonna make you pay with probation/scholarships". That and "I will become an even bigger dbag. That is my goal."
  2. Woo, a 3 seed! Ah crap, the 6 seed already beat us.
  3. I didn't realize the Cavs were starting Lorenzen Wright at a forward position, blech. Get well soon Ilgauskas and Wallace.
  4. I'm highly amused at the phrase "Top 25 Recruiter".
  5. Carroll at the Press Conference:
  6. Miles is also going to be our power lefty off the bench. After Hoffpauir. I'm still waiting to hear how Hoff is going to fit on a 5 man bench. If Cedeno is a goner, and it looks like he is, Hoffpauir has no competition unless they bring in someone else.
  7. Miles is also going to be our power lefty off the bench. After Hoffpauir.
  8. Aurilia would be a fine bench guy to backup a couple infield positions, maybe even a shrewd one depending on the cost and how well you allocate his playing time, but not on the same bench that includes Aaron Miles, because neither of them should be playing shortstop ever. I also don't think Aurilia gets anything of substance, money-wise.
  9. He can't throw the ball down the field at all. Everything that comes out is a too-hot-to-handle laser beam that often times hits his intended receiver on the bounce.
  10. I can't wait to laugh at whoever takes Freeman. He's just really, really bad at throwing a football.
  11. Yes, maybe people will come to their senses and draft Coffman in front of Pettigrew, too.
  12. My friend got the same email. Have they introduced Luis Vizcaino? The Japanese reliever.
  13. Raines only got 22 percent? That's crazy talk.
  14. Awesome, Willy Mo is gonna get paaiiid.
  15. On a reputation v. production basis, Young is one of the more overrated players in the game. He's a pretty bad defender at short, and his offense has declined to the point where he's not much better than Theriot.
  16. I wonder if Sheets would go for something like 8 mil this year then a split option for 2010, like a 5-6 mil player option and a 15 mil team option.
  17. It's an exchange of draft picks anyway. Give up this year's first to get a pick in the 20's plus a sandwich pick next year.
  18. I really hope Maclin gets to go somewhere like Jacksonville where there's already a couple capable receivers, I think his pro career will go much better if he doesn't have to be the guy right away.
  19. Everything I've seen is that Saito's arm is hamburger meat, I don't think this is a particularly shrewd move or one that the Cubs should've made.
  20. It's not even through with the first half and I am unbelievably bitter with the officiating in the Mizzou-Nebraska game.
  21. That's not true. I think it's pretty safe to assume Cedeno is gone one way or another. That leaves Miles as the only backup IF. Need at least 1 more. Aurilia fills that role. Looks like the Cubs will once again assemble a bench full of 25th men. It certainly looks like Hoff is a goner too. I suggested Aurilia last year as a righty bat off the bench with some power. Where did you hear that? I'm under the assumption that he has been groomed to be the Darryl Ward of the 2009 Cubs and beyond. He hasn't done anything in my mind to lose that job. 5 man bench Bako Miles Aurilia Johnson Gathright I think when Aurilia was brought up earlier in the offseason it was noted he'd be a nice platoon partner with Fontenot.
  22. Notre Dame is losing at St. Johns in the second half on ESPNU
  23. Mizzou got a nice road win against Georgia, 83-76 the final. As long as they handle Coppin State on Tuesday they'll finish the non-conference 13-2, much better than I thought they would.
  24. During one of Hendry's most recent interviews he stated Marshall as one of the bullpen arms. Someone's got to be the 5th starter. If it's not Marshall, then one of Samardzija, Gaudin, Hart, Wells, etc. will be the guy unless another starter is that next move. Last year they talked about Samardzija being a starter down the line. Gaudin has experience starting too. With the lack of leftys and a Marshalls ability to be a swing man, hes needed in the pen. He's also a lot better a starter than the alternatives I mentioned. I'll take my chances with the 6th inning guys to get a benefit in the rotation over 150+ innings.
  25. Bradley OPSing .860 with average defense for 90 games plus Gathright/Johnson/Fukudome/Hoffpauir playing the other 70 on matchups is in all likelihood better than Dunn putting up a .900 OPS with horrific defense for 150 games. That's what Haltz was getting at with the Wins Above Replacement numbers.
