the ump rang up hardy on a pitch that missed by a foot. if the strike zone is that inconsistent you're really rolling the dice by letting a pitch go that misses the outside corner by 3 inches. Hardy's was a borderline pitch, but it's on a different plane. You have to take that, it was well outside and again, nothing has been called out there all day. If he swings everyone gets pissed at Lee for popping up to the right side or rolling into a double play. -
that was a ball. Yeah...would be a good take on 1-0...but on 3-2? It was 6 inches onside with a guy who hasn't called anything out there the whole game.

Not a chance in hell. He reached at full arms length above his head and yeah he missed it, but a shortstop should not make that high of a throw. It hit his glove and he didn't have to leave his feet. He needs to catch it. He would have had to leave his feet if he wanted to catch it, in which case the guy would have been safe and it would have been an error on Theriot. He probably thought it was going to keep coming down, since that's how Theriot's throws always move. In that case the worst case scenario is that Weeks is barely safe at first, with a chance of him still being out. Instead he ended up on second cause the throw got away.

That was what, the third time he showed bunt that at bat? He put it down on the right side then booked it to try to get a hit, but that wasn't his primary goal.

Yes. They're 9 games worse per year since we got rid of Dusty. The teams they're fielding right now aren't close to what they were back then though. YES
