  1. Pick him up and drop Upton.
  2. Did everyone else know that a GIDP counts as 2 in GO-FO? That's what they said for Coleman's first inning at least, K, single, GIDP.
  3. Coleman getting the start in Game 1 for Tennessee. Thomas leads off the game with a double and a run.

  5. Seems kinda lame that if players take banned substances that could boost their performance and get suspended, the team can replace them; but if a player loses his temper and yells at an umpire and gets suspended, they can't be replaced.
  6. Correct, Cleveland is vastly superior to St. Louis. I disagree. They're almost exactly the same city. Except Cleveland's winters are from hell. Don't let a baseball rivalry cloud your judgement. It's remarkable how similar the two places are. As much as we may complain about the two Mayor Daleys with their big machine politics and greed: they saved Chicago from going down the same path to ruin many other cities went to. We got lucky. Then again, the current King Richard may just tax this city into oblivion. I lived in the Cleveland area for 13 years, the weather there is so much better. You can stay outside for more than 5 minutes at a time in the summer, and when it's bitterly cold in the winter you actually get snow instead of 40 mph wind. They were right about the sun though, Cleveland winters are one gray day after another.
  7. This reminds me of the old Todd Walker photoshops, except it's real. Outstanding work.
  8. They've had a few rainouts. I imagine it's Coleman, since he was scheduled for yesterday's game that got rained out.

  10. The NCAA has decided that if a player is fouled and hurt too badly to take the free throws, the opposing coach can choose the free throw shooter among the remaining players on the court. Yes, let's give incentive for fouls hard enough to injure another player!
  11. Put in Bobby Scales, then. I probably prefer Miles.
  12. Correct, Cleveland is vastly superior to St. Louis.
  13. He's playing because there's a LHP on the mound and Fontenot has played 14 of the last 15 days.
  14. Lineup Soriano Theriot Bradley Ramirez Soto Johnson Hoffpauir Miles Harden
  15. It's funny how Lidge's teams ultimately come out ahead in those situations.
  16. Ascanio, Coleman, and Cashner, fun pitching day. They let Cashner go 3 innings, he gave up a single, 2 walks, and struck out 2, with a 4-2 GO-FO. Coleman and Tennessee are rain delayed. And Peoria is having a nice offensive day, with 7 runs thru 4. Vitters is 2 for 3 with a double(he's now slugging .470), Burke is 2 for 2 with a double and a walk, Flaherty is 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, and Junior Lake is 1 for 2 with his first home run.
  17. I think it probably went something like this: "Without me, Conference USA is no different than the MAC, come to a conference where there are more than zero good teams." Of course, he's selling the SEC, so there's like 2 good teams, but the point remains.
  18. Who said it was easy? You said the Rockets have a good chance of winning a series against a team that has home court advantage and won 80% of their games.
  19. If it were so easy to force LeBron into shooting jumpers or to let other players on the team try to beat you, the Cavaliers wouldn't have won 66 games.
  20. The Cavaliers have 4 guys aside from LeBron who shoot upwards of 40% from 3, and a center who is one of the best mid range shooters around for a big man. They're also a Top 3 defensive and rebounding team, and they have the best player in the world.
  21. I like Marshall's chances against this lineup. Sandoval has been awful as a RH hitter in MLB, and there's no real lefty killing RH hitters in the lineup. Also, Sean Marshall is a real good pitcher.
  22. Some people thought the Blaines would end up the same way the Chases did, with the shorter, less heralded guy beating out the better rated recruit for the starting job. Though it seems that Gabbert's extra year of experience in addition to his gifts has given him the leg up on Dalton, but Dalton is still well regarded. Ultimately though, he is a freshman with no collegiate experience, and is in some legal trouble right now(although it appears to be not very serious), so Mizzou is probably thin as far as capability, but not necessarily from a talent perspective. With regards to the North, I'd agree, except I simply don't think that highly of Nebraska. They're replacing even more of their offense than Mizzou, and they had a gap to bridge to reach Mizzou's level to begin with. KU is pretty clearly the best team, and the only reason another team should win the North is because of their schedule(both OU and Texas, @TT, Mizzou on a neutral field). It wouldn't be unlikely at all for KU to lose to both OU and Texas, and split Nebraska and Mizzou. If it were Mizzou that beats them, they could lose @OSU, v. Texas, and v. Nebraska and still beat out KU(the other 4 games are the dregs of the North and v. Baylor). If it's NU they can lose @Mizzou, v. OU, and v. TT and still beat KU(with the same dregs of the North + Baylor as their conference wins).
  23. Mizzou has a ton of turnover this year, with Weatherspoon being the only returning defensive starter, and breaking in a new QB(with the top 3 receiving targets gone from last year). They'll rely on Washington more this year, and hopefully Gabbert transitions well and shows why he was a big time recruit. The schedule is relatively kind this year(although a road trip to Nevada and a neutral against Illinois is a rough non-con), and with KU getting the second year of their South gauntlet, Mizzou has an outside shot to win the division over Nebraska and KU.
