  1. Even just this year: 4 GS, 30 IP, 11 H, 1 ER, 24/7 K/BB, 0 HR Granted 3 of those are against the offenses of the A's, Angels, and Padres, but the other is this Giants team
  2. Here are the wRC+ for the likely starting lineups for both teams: 149 - Cubs 145 - Cubs 138 - Giants 129 - Cubs 124 - Cubs 121 - Giants 116 - Giants 113 - Cubs 107 - Giants 105 - Giants 101 - Cubs 98 - Giants 96 - Giants 95 - Cubs 89 - Giants 72 - Cubs This assumes Ross catching and Coghlan in LF. Future games the Cubs will have lower numbers in one spot(Soler's 106 or Baez's 94) and possibly higher in another(Contreras's 126 wRC+ catching). And then the best relievers by FIP: 1.42 - Cubs 2.53 - Giants 2.87 - Cubs 2.91 - Cubs 3.15 - Giants 3.16 - Giants 3.28 - Cubs 3.29 - Giants 3.50 - Cubs 3.80 - Giants Summary: There's going to be a lot of talk about the starting pitching matchups being relatively even, and that's definitely an important equalizer. But it's important to remember the magnitude of how much better the Cubs are in the other stages, especially at the top.
  3. And they all (well, Green not so much in the upper body, but I think 210 might be generous there) have pretty muscular and lean builds. Muscle weighing more than fat, I can't see how someone with less muscle at that same weight would be considered "ridiculously" skinny Kind of a pointless argument but w/e My first reaction is that the weights and definitely the heights are probably not very accurate.
  4. Not so sure about that. How so? I think I might prefer to punt a spot in the order to get Montero catching Arrieta instead of Contreras. Almost certainly Samardzija in Game 2
  5. I know the Giants pen is bad, but I wonder if they'll regret giving up an out when the bottom of the order was due up for the Mets.
  6. Pence looked bad, NYC dumpsters must have less nutritious food than SF
  7. Arrieta is just as capable of shutting down either of these offenses as Baumgarner or Syndergaard. Short memory dude. i don't know about "just as" capable right now, but definitely very capable...and then they have to shut down our offense, not one of these. For reference, Arrieta faced both teams twice: Mets 7 IP, 1 ER 5.1 IP, 4 ER Giants 6 IP, 2 ER 7 IP, 1 ER
  8. Did that guy have a professionally made sign that just says "2 Strikes"? That's right up there with that clown from St. Louis
  9. Bumgarner going to throw a 50 pitch complete game and be ready to go again Friday at this rate
  10. why are the Mets waving orange towels in a game against the Giants
  11. ESPN's live overlay of K-zone continues to be the worst and most baffling thing
  12. Nearly 60/40 say World Series [tweet]https://twitter.com/rianwatt/status/783083810242068481[/tweet]
  13. Belt and Cespedes are the only players on either roster with an OPS+ above 120. There are 5 Cubs(Bryzzo, Fowler, Zobrist, Contreras) above that threshold.
  14. I guess it doesn't matter a ton. Whether Cueto starts Game 1 or 2 he can still start Game 5 on normal rest, so unless he throws so much they don't feel he can start on Saturday, there's little effect.
  15. See this is the topic you want to bring up if you want to needle the Cardinals about missing the playoffs. Their shortstops were -15 UZR this year, Diaz specifically at a -11 pace. Put a major league shortstop on the field and maybe they make the playoffs.
  16. My understanding is that you need a cable login to watch MLB.tv postseason streams. In other words, think of that $10 as a charge to stream to a browser/iOS device instead of access to the stream itself. Since FoxSportsGo and TBS online are actual things, it's a pretty pointless $10 to spend. Long story short, you need a cable login or a streaming package like SlingTV or Vue that gives you access to FoxSports 1/TBS. Without them you won't be able to (legally) stream playoff games.
  17. Yeah, if we're dreaming, Syndergaard joins the army of undead Mets pitchers in the 2nd inning and Colon has to rescue him for 5+ innings to get the win.
  18. Yup http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-cubs/cubs-planning-maximize-aroldis-chapman-october
  19. Ubaldo threw 5 pitches 2 made it to the catcher
  20. Gave you a like for the excellent photoshop work. Took me a minute to realize that wasn't actually a skeleton wearing an O's hat. See, the joke is, that's not actually Zach Britton!
  21. let's check in on Britton in the bullpen:
  22. really interested if Schoop ever had ball and base at once
