  1. Tripp Gibson as a replay official seems like a joke that went a little bit too far.
  2. Things I didn't know: the Nationals/Expos have won 1 playoff series in their 48 year existence, the 1981 NLDS which featured a minor league style first half winner v. second half winner because the players went on strike.
  3. Lackey starting with Montgomery entering the game the moment anyone reaches base the 2nd time thru the order is probably the best case scenario. By starting Lackey you ensure that Montgomery(who could conceivably go 5 innings himself) gets matched up with the lefty heavy lineup, at least to start. You could apply the same approach to Zastryzny too, I think he and Montgomery are better used as immediate and multi-inning relief of different starters than as a combo.
  4. Baez still needs to earn any playing time against RHP, even if Heyward moves to CF.
  5. Lester has only started on 3 days rest twice in his career, most recently 5 years ago. 9/28/11: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5/4 K/BB, 1 HR - Previous outing was 2.2 IP and 55 pitches 4/23/08: 5 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 1/2 K/BB, 2 HR - Previous outing was 6.1 IP and 106 pitches Given the strength and depth of the bullpen, I would rather they start Lackey and aggressively pull him after one trip through the order than start Lester on 3 days rest.
  6. Reading this was actually kinda sad: http://www.mercurynews.com/2016/10/11/casilla-weeps-after-being-passed-over-in-fateful-collapse-in-ninth/
  7. omg lester [tweet]https://twitter.com/munekawasakiwb/status/786071367754063873[/tweet]
  8. That's the first crying Jordan that I've laughed at in a long time, maybe ever
  9. I'm sorry I've just been told that the Cubs won the series in an EVEN number of games. Northsidebaseball regrets the error.
  10. I just now realized we double switched Fowler out of the game and not Heyward.
  11. Law may never be more than a middle reliever, but he'll always have an endorsement deal waiting for him.
  12. why are you double switching Soler into the game, if you want to pinch hit for Heyward just do it after he plays defense
  13. Worse. Zobrist shouldn't start game 5 I say this in the gentlest way possible, you have made a lot of very bad posts today.
  14. okay, 3rd time thru the order on Moore plus a tired pen, go to work
  15. The Giants are 10 for 19 on balls in play today, plus 2 sac flies
  16. If we're pulling Zobrist for Almora then I'm going to have to retire to the angrydome for the rest of the evening. I was looking at it as having Soler PHing behind Rizzo Not as bad, but also very bad
  17. If we're pulling Zobrist for Almora then I'm going to have to retire to the angrydome for the rest of the evening.
