  1. Salazar's ERA from the start of July until his injury: 7.36 7 of 10 starts gave up at least 3 runs, 5 of 4+ runs. Hitters put up a .323/.388/.538/.925 line against him, with 10 HR in 44 IP I'm not terribly concerned about him getting a start after 6 weeks without game action.
  2. Roberts in an email to Friedman every night: http://67.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_masa0hZXuZ1qmt5mvo1_500.gif
  3. The site was a little pokey at the time so I might have accidentally registered a 6 hour suspension instead of something more permanent.
  4. If it's so damn easy to steal on Lester, why bother planning for it? Brand new information, they found out yesterday that Lester doesn't throw to first. What an ace up their sleeve!
  5. There's also the whole "if they get on first base" thing. Good luck with that. Joc Pederson plans on bunting to get around that problem. Never mind that bunting a 91 mph cutter to 3B so that Lester alone fields it isn't any easier than hitting a line drive(well, maybe for Pederson...), but Joc already tried and failed at this in Game 1.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] I love this plotline so much because of how deluded it is. Yes, please do cartwheels off first base and see how little Lester cares, and then either try your luck at stealing a base(runners have a 31% CS% on Lester, right at league average) or at getting picked the horsefeathers off by Ross(8 in less than 70 games). Goons.
  7. The Dodgers are starting no hitters today who have an .800+ OPS against LHP this year. The two best were Ruiz, who walked a bunch to go with a .115 IsoP against lefties, and the 7 hitter Puig, who legitimately killed them in September but his early struggles weighed him down to a .784 OPS. This is the low-key reason that the Dodgers are so bad against LHP. Sure, having Seager, Gonzalez, and Pederson be 3 of your best hitters hurts, but most of their RH platoon hitters were just not good even with platoon advantage.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet] It hasn't gotten a lot of attention, but Roberts managing like he's at the end of a 12 person game of telephone with a saber-savvy person at the other end is becoming hilarious.
  9. rough em up, rough kershaw up, win the pennant make it happen
  10. Gonzalez was probably safe, and had the situation been opposite I would've made about 15 angry posts about it not being overturned. But since he slid with his fingers up, I didn't see an angle that definitively showed contact with the plate before the glove hit his jaw. Worst case this is justice for that Pirates game where Baez was out despite getting hand, arm, and elbow across the plate before being tagged.
  11. Yeah, I'm a little glad I can't watch today, the stakes are similarly high and last night I would've been a wreck in a tight game. Needing to only beat one of Kershaw/Hill at home is so much easier to manage than beating them consecutively.
  12. Jake on 3 days rest seems like setting him up to fail.
  13. I think if someone gets replaced, they are ineligible for the next series if the team advances. That is correct.
  14. Moving towards the plate/runner on 3rd out of habit, I'd guess.
  15. Well when you have an elite defender like Kendrick you gotta make room.
  16. don't walk the ghost of Andre Ethier I shouldn't have to say these things out loud
  17. the former White Sox third baseman? Oddly enough, a different Josh Fields.
  18. everyone agrees that this wasn't serious right okay agreed
  19. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME MORE OF URIAS AND HIS NASTY CURVE AND HOW IT WILL HUMILIATE THE CUBS FOR 7 INNINGS
  20. (that throw is why Heyward took his time to gather himself)
