  1. it's probably just breast cancer Careful, Stroman's dad will come for you. http://sports.cbsimg.net/images//visual/whatshot/AtXMaEdCIAIfDPi.jpg
  2. slow roller to 2nd, Philly tried to turn a DP(Szczur had it beat out) and threw it away, Almora came around to score on the overthrow at 1st.
  3. let it never be said that gameday didn't give a sense of narrative
  4. imagine being as good at anything as Kris Bryant is at baseball
  5. I think it's hilarious he intentionally chose a clip that is more at home at the end of a Chevy commercial.
  6. I continue to be blown away with how consistently good he looks.
  7. - they still play 7 consecutive days after this one so if all the games are close and the SPs keep leaving in the 5th/6th, they're going to be using suboptimal 7th inning guys - Uehara should be off limits having pitched yesterday - Rondon and Davis have both pitched in 2 of 3 games and would rather not be used if you can help it - by the 7th inning Montgomery is gonna be thought of as a long reliever to protect the pen in extras That leaves Grimm/Strop/Edwards as a pretty logical progression if you can get away with it, although the circumstances might change this slightly. It's pretty clear that Joe is basically punting today though, he could've started Contreras and could've used Montgomery for 1+ inning instead of Duensing. I'm going to have to give you a warning for using logic in the Game Thread Forum. Joe is basically flipping me the bird by using Edwards against 7-8-9 after Strop threw 4 pitches.

  9. Turns out someone apparently fired it from outside the park into the air and the bullet fell and hit her on the way down. Yeehaw. As idiotic as shooting a gun into the sky already is, I can't even imagine how stupid you'd have to be to do it near a mass gathering of potentially 40k+ people. Jesus. I don't know how likely a bullet coming back down is to kill someone after air resistance and stuff gets a hold of it, but still. It was apparently fired about a half mile (and across the highway) from the stadium.
  10. DID YOU KNOW: The machine that John Henry competed against was repurposed to drive baseballs instead of railroad stakes and now goes by Jon Jay
  11. It better be a line drive in these conditions. He's not a Phillie so there's no chance he'll drop one in the basket. You seem like you're in a good place today.
  12. Which is amazing, because his spring training was complete ass. Joe said he'd be fine. I think I believe him. Ok, I say it every year, but next year is the year I *finally* don't pay attention to Spring Training at all. Almora tho On the other hand Rondon slow played us in March AGAIN
  13. Davis and Edwards have given up 6 *hits* in 24.1 IP, if all of those hits were home runs that would be an ERA of 2.21. They were not so the ERA is 0.
  14. I'm not sure Heyward gets to Herrera's line drive in the first, but I'm very sure he throws out the guy at the plate the play before, so probably.
  15. There's 2 outs and he assumed Galvis was going to try to make a play at 1st, which is what happens in most of those cases. He still had time to stop but pressing the issue with 2 outs isn't the worst thing, bad throws happen more often than we think on such plays.
  16. Next time Maddon's bullpen usage slightly annoys us, let's remember he's possibly the only manager in MLB who pinch hits WIllson in that situation.
  17. I'm beginning to wonder if Schwarber is literally not seeing the ball well.
  18. the number of no-win groundballs we've induced in that triangle between 1B-2B-P this year is staggering
  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBWtiFUm2Gs&t=17s
  20. he looks very good (not that that technically contradicts your statement) He looked ok. Velocity is still meh and the command still blows. You can't walk Daniel Nava. I don't disagree that the command wasn't sharp, but Daniel Nava has a career 10% walk rate and .356 OBP.
