  1. Bryant has more fWAR than any 2 Cubs, any 3 position players
  2. Burks went 2 for 4 with a double, I think that pushes his OPS near .880.
  3. I for one am looking forward to a 4-0 deficit after the first inning and then being gobsmacked when Lackey somehow pitches into the 7th.
  4. I wonder if Zastryzny is eligible to be the 26th man.
  5. It appears the 26th man is only eligible for game 2. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/26th_Man_Rule
  6. Wrecking the major league team with your words wasn't enough? Can nothing quench your bloodlust? They're just babies!
  7. If I can put on my contrarian hat, from my view I think Urias is being handled pretty poorly. There's handling pitchers carefully, and there's also eroding the utility of a pitcher by being too risk averse. Taking 6 years to get a guy north of 150 IP is the FUD approach to player development. If I wanted to be really cynical, I might also suggest that Urias gets monitored so heavily because he's not actually all that good a pitcher and his numbers both in MLB and MiLB are inflated by never facing a hitter 3 times in a game.
  8. Michael Rucker at South Bend: 10.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 18/0 K/BB, 1 HR He now has a 36/1 K/BB in 23.1 IP as a pro.
  9. Brisbee had an article today that made a pretty compelling case that the Giants aren't going to be trading guys like Cueto or Pence even if they're uncompetitive. It makes extra sense for Cueto because the opt out saps a big chunk of his potential value. www.sbnation.com/2017/5/8/15578886/sf-g ... ce=twitter
  10. I remembered hearing before the season that the Cubs' schedule was front-heavy this year, so I was curious if that holds true. Fangraphs currently projects 10 teams to win 83 games or more(CHC, WAS, LAD, COL, STL, BOS, NYY, BAL, CLE, HOU). Here's the number of games against those teams by month for the Cubs: April through the NYY series: 12 rest of May: 9 June: 11 July: 6 August: 3 September: 7 Other NL teams of note thus far: STL: 9 PIT: 15 WAS: 7 NYM: 6 (lol) LAD: 8 COL: 7 ARI: 19 (!) SF: 14 This is imperfect because previously considered contenders could get themselves in gear(think Pittsburgh, San Francisco) and knock names like Colorado off the list, but it's worthwhile as food for thought.
  11. Honestly, is it nec esar ry for Contreras to gunsling it like that to 1st? Rizzo looks terrified to try to catch those On that one it was.
  12. Rondon threw 40 on Friday, I'd bet they can get an inning out of him(After Hendricks pinch hits for Strop?). Then I'd guess Jon Jay is the position player chosen? Today is Hendricks' throw day, right?
  13. they probably made whatshisname start eating pieces of bread in the 10th and now he needs to have his stomach pumped
  14. Almora pinch hit in the 9th and he's due up 4th to take his 5th plate appearance of the night
  15. Do beavers hunt raccoons? They bite 'death to raccoons' into a stick and toss it into Lackey's mouth.
  16. Lackey has to be furious that this game is cutting into his raccoon-hunting time
