  1. Strike one to Bryant was worse than like 3 of the pitches he called balls to Jay
  2. Lackey is gonna bite Jake's beard off for stealing his 'early runs then shut down' schtick
  3. JD's line about Hollandsworth selling car insurance was great.
  4. i remember people saying the same horsefeathers about us last year and that tends to be the case when you win like 73% of your games. it's not like their run differential isn't great too. they're not just beating those teams...they're crushing them. A huge chunk of their run differential is from the last week, and they're 5 games better than their BaseRuns record. They're 1 game ahead of last year's Cubs and like 40 runs worse on run differential. The Astros are very good, but they aren't 110 wins or 2016 Cubs good.
  5. They're starting Straily and Locke in consecutive games? I didn't realize things were that dire there. This version of the Cubs(2015 to present) have a 1.000+ OPS against those two in over 200 PA.
  6. Bryant will have made in the neighborhood of 50 million as a professional before free agency in salary alone, never mind endorsements and such. There's zero reason for him to accept a pre-FA extension unless he doesn't care about money and never has any intention of leaving Chicago.
  7. If anything it's another reminder of Hochman's horrific prose. [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Montgomery gets an incredible amount of soft contact
  9. He threw a simulated game in Arizona today, so he'll probably be ready for a rehab assignment soon.
  10. What little I've followed has seemed suspicious how much the Cubs were tied specifically to that player that it seemed to be an obvious plant and likely misdirection on somebody's part. The Cubs love Gray and Appel, they're just glad they get to pick one at #2.
  11. Also, the other time Davis threw 3 days in a row he threw 10 and 13 pitches the first 2 days, compared to 11 and 23 Friday and Saturday.
  12. None of the Marlins players themselves seem like a great fit, but the outfielders could potentially be useful in a 3 team deal if a trade partner wants established MLB guys headlining a trade for a SP.
  13. Is that a 4-3-3 with Fab/MB/Nagbe as the middle band? Or 4-2-3-1 with Wood up top and Fab/MB as DMs?
  14. Just have to play at a 136 win pace the rest of the way. Easy.
  15. Wait. What? Didn't they score on that? Contreras was on first on the one they scored on. Contreras was at 2nd on this one and instead of driving in a run the 2nd baseman made a diving stop on the SS side of the bag and Myers' blind squirrel attempt at the throw found an acorn. Contreras was stranded at 3rd after.
  16. that is some major league arm strength from Baez wow
  17. Is the world series trophy one of those talent sucking totems like in Space Jam? Is Bryant gonna have to play a bunch of aliens to get it back with only the Animaniacs as teammates?
  18. tbh I'm shocked Contreras stopped running at all around 2nd, if he hadn't he would've been safe at 3rd
  19. CUBS DON'T READ THIS . . . . . . . . . Astros, hello
  20. our rotation is Hendricks and the cast of King of the Hill
