    It would be nice to set the Nats back a decade like Baker did the Cubs. Maybe play so hard and with such joy that Harper is convinced to sign with the Cubs? The Cubs are developing a habit of crushing a franchise's spirit in the NLDS and them coincidentally being unable to recover. Cardinals haven't been back to the playoffs since, and the Giants were horrific this year and look far from a playoff berth in that division. The Nationals have less competition, but it's not difficult to see Dusty's usage come home to roost next year with a few pitching injuries, then Harper leaves, Murphy is 34 and it all falls apart.

    Most of the play by play guys are fine(Anderson was a bit annoying but nothing obnoxious), the real issue is the color guys saying absolute nonsense. My main consolation if they don't make the World Series again is that I won't have to listen to Smoltz one minute more than I need to. It probably wouldn't work, but I wonder if you had a national PBP guy in a 3 man booth with the regular color guys from each team. Like imagine a Cubs/Mets NLCS with Buck, JD, and Keith Hernandez. 3 man booths are generally intolerable, but that's one way I could imagine it working.

    Good. I wouldn't have cared if Lester and Q were flipped, but I believe in Lester's last couple starts, and this way Q gets his first playoff start at home.

    Horrible Nobody will give a horsefeathers about your NIT People don't care about the NIT because there are dozens and dozens of teams playing in the more prestigious event. If the more prestigious event has literally 2, it's exclusive enough that people have interest in a tournament without the big title. Fans of non-tournament teams still watch conference tournaments.

    I'll again suggest having the best record in each league play a world series and have an expanded playoffs of 1-3 game series separate from that. Get your elimination game excitement expanded while still having an outlet of prestige for the 162 game grind.

    It's just a baseball twitter person, and it's a reference to The Office. The takeaway is that we might not want to rush to assume that Coppolella did something completely beyond the pale, he just might have been less careful and/or made more enemies in and out of his front office.

    Possibly, but Q throwing a few innings of a sim game on Wednesday after 80 pitches on Friday doesn't really preclude him from starting Game 2 the next Saturday. With Lester looking mostly back to normal the past 2 starts, I would probably bet on him in Game 2 though.

    With the right results today(Cubs W, Red Sox L) the Cubs will finished tied for the 5th best record in baseball. If the D-Backs lose too they'd only be tied with Boston.
