  1. England's second 11 would still be favored against Wales, and Iran is bad and will bunker regardless. A Wales/Iran draw would be an amazing result.
  2. Also Wales may not have a great time against an Iran team that has zero interest in possession
  3. what in the world Zimmerman
  4. how many times does Mepham get to clear out Pulisic
  5. so Musah and Sargent are 2 of the 3
  6. need Moore and Aaronson ASAP
  7. Gonna have to sub off McKennie and Dest(fitness + yellows), question is who are the other 3? Probably 3 of Weah, Sargent, Pulisic, Musah? Wales are gonna bring on Moore to hold up long balls and that's gonna test the discipline of the midfield. Important the counter press makes it hard to pick him out when he does come on.
  8. stoppage time lengths in all games so far have been insane
  9. the possession, counter pressing, and Wales playing balls to nowhere half the time are going to make Wales exhausted by the 55th minute. They're already rotating slower than in the first 20 mins
  10. not a foul not a yellow
  11. I really hope Ream helps unlock the attack and that he doesn't get isolated too much. I know he's a better passer than Long and in much better form, but I have some bad memories of Lainez cooking him in the Nations League final. And Dan James preferring to run down the right side is going to put maximum stress on him if Jedi isn't more withdrawn.
  12. This Stallone segment is like someone asked an AI to do a motivational pre-game TV preview. It's the uncanny valley of emotional manipulations
  13. At what point does Gio sub in? Depends on how the fitness of guys like McKennie, Musah, and Weah looks, plus game state. Would be surprised to see him before the 60th unless things are going extremely well or extremely poorly. In other news, 4 of the 22 starters play for Fulham
  14. No one in Group A looking like a particularly intimidating Round of 16 matchup so far, which is nice since the odds of winning the group took a big hit this morning.
  15. https://twitter.com/tkalmus/status/1594363015431950336
  16. I'm sorry what was the offside there, unless the replay skipped past the borderline offside on the initial free kick, no one was at all close to being offside. Two defenders backed up to the goal line so the keeper being out to lunch isn't tricking anything either.
  17. If we're claiming that the front office isn't going to make some big investment until Heyward's contract is off the books, since that's one season away the only logical reason would be that they can't afford both Heyward's contract and another large investment. Except despite having 25 million of AAV in dead money between Heyward and Bote, they're still a zillion dollars below previous spending levels. If you think that Jed is going to be gun shy about long term deals for whatever reason(Heyward PTSD, efficiency fetish, etc) that's fine, but the idea that they will do a big contract but only when Heyward's is off the books doesn't make any coherent sense.
  18. First I've seen of some media chatter that Trevor Rogers might be available, really like to see that
  19. I'd be surprised if they cut Higgins. He performed well, the word of mouth about him via beat reporters is strong, and they probably are uneasy about Amaya being the 3rd catcher on the 40 man. That also points towards Rivas' fate being extra sealed(since Higgins can fake it at 1B for a few games) which is why I'd just non-tender him now. You have Young who was successfully outrighted if you need a bad AAA 1B, but more likely it's a place Wisdom can help too. As for Marquez, I think that dream has to die and you might as well cut him in case some more utilitarian need pops up. The window for a really positive outcome is just too narrow given how far he has to go and the option clock ticking against him.
  20. You can actually pick them in the poll. :) I went with Leiter, Marquez, Rivas and Ortega. I did! Not sure I understand the hurry to non-tender Leiter. He was excellent as a reliever and doesn't cost anything, worst case scenario you can try to sneak him through when you absolutely need the spot later in the offseason(and I'd at least consider Rucker and/or McKinstry first).
  21. Today, Rivas, Marquez, and maybe Ortega depending on the plans for the OF.
  22. I'd expect there to be a handful of moves over the next 2 weeks, then a flurry of moves the week of the winter meetings(starting 2 weeks from Sunday) and into the week after, then a dead period at Christmas, and finally a steady stream from January til ST. Tomorrow is the non-tender deadline which should be the last big roster domino that needs to fall before teams start getting particularly aggressive about moves.
