  1. It feels like every at bat I've seen from Barnhart he squares the ball up well
  2. Birdsell did not allow a ball to leave the infield, 4 K, 2 GB, 3 pop ups
  3. please get Torrens off the roster, we can't keep doing this
  4. Even though I'm a soccer fan this isn't a connection that I've made. I think it's an interesting thought experiment, but probably not a great fit, if for no other reason that soccer has a more familiar pattern for situations where a substitution isn't possible(playing down a man). You could maybe solve for this by buffering the sub window by 1 more than is optimal knowing that managers will keep one in case of emergency. Maybe testing would help discover if that's necessary, but the difference in competitive stakes at the minor league level would probably obscure it. I think you can probably get to the same end goal with changes that have already been discussed by people like Theo. Institute the double hook DH and limit pitchers on the roster to 12 and you'll get more teams optimizing for 7 inning starters. Or maybe more teams optimizing for 3 inning relievers
  5. The Cubs are 4th in the NL in run differential and 3rd in runs per game
  6. Always reminded of Scrubs in these situations
  7. why is Morel repeatedly squaring to bunt with 2 on and no out
  8. Rich Waltz: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Waltz He did Marlins games for a long time so maybe that?
  9. They should only be blacking out national broadcasts on Saturdays if you're out of market, but I'm not sure exactly how that works tomorrow. It says it airs on FS1 as well as Fox Sports Southwest and Marquee, so my assumption is it's not blacked out but I can't be certain.
  10. That would surprise me. I'm either expecting Boxberger or Fulmer to try to go 2, but of the 7 still available the only ones I'm sure aren't coming in are Rucker and Merryweather.
  11. The apple TV stuff is dumb and probably how it's "supposed" to work, but you shouldn't have been blacked out for any of the other games. Might be worth contacting them about it. Only potential reason that comes to mind is if your billing address is still in the Chicago area, but that shouldn't matter to my knowledge. Maybe a VPN messing with things?
  12. why would a hitter being out of the box not be reviewable?
  13. Barnhart did smoke that GIDP, 96 mph off the bat and .580 xBA
  14. I'm not a big A/V guy but it's really noticeable on the 27 inch monitor at my desk. Also I kinda love the umpire cam? I feel like Fox tried to do that in the past but this one feels closer to a batter POV than what I remember.
  15. They are either not picking up the 2 seamer from Eovaldi or it's got more movement than they're expecting, multiple guys getting fooled by its location
  16. You don't have to own an Apple device but you do have to give them money or at least sign up for the trial of Apple TV+
  17. You have to risk the Torrens outright, we can't keep going with 3 non-offensive catchers and 2 1B/DH*, it's madness. *Yes Mancini can technically play the OF, but 1) he shouldn't and 2) that flexibility doesn't mean much when both corner OF are also strong RHH and Wisdom can do it better.
  18. I think you're both right. Last year you did not need to subscribe to Apple TV+ to watch the MLB games, you just needed to go to the Apple TV app. This year it does require Apple TV+ to my understanding, but if you've never subscribed you can get a free trial. From spot checking the schedule, it looks like there's 2 Cubs games on Apple TV this year, this afternoon, and Friday night May 12th @ Minnesota
  19. A couple interesting quotes about Morel from today's Athletic piece: You could infer a couple things based on that If Hosmer doesn't hit, then Morel is just as much a candidate to replace him as Mervis, since they can play Morel all over with an emphasis on his home position(3B) while Wisdom and Rios soak up 1B at bats They are worried about the balance of offensive profiles and having Morel, Wisdom, and Rios all in the running for similar playing time is redundant/exploitable. This may also be why Madrigal got a spot over Morel
  20. Not sure if the free MLB.tv benefit is a big driver for anyone using T-Mobile, but they announced they're going to offer it through at least 2028: https://www.theverge.com/2023/4/6/23672572/t-mobile-mlb-tv-free-2028
  21. He didn't strike out against Burnes!
