  1. Exceptionally well said XZero. =D>
  2. I'm sure that Cedeno will get sent down. He is not exactly excelling in a backup role. Yeah. 1 for 16 since his callup. 17 PA's in 13 games, sheesh.
  3. I believe you stick your index finger out of the glove to protect it. When in the glove, that finger rests just behind the "pocket" and therefore takes the most abuse from hard thrown balls. As a kid we didn't have holes for our index finger, we just slid it out over the top of the glove. It would eventually wear a nice comfortable little groove . . . My infielders glove is the same way, it feels too cramped with the finger inside it. Wears a nice groove between the index and middle finger.
  4. It only took an 0-2 on Saturday for him to get Dubois'd. Goony, Redman is starting today.
  5. If Bowden really twisted our arms, I'd even part with Macias. I don't know. Macias has been one of our best pinch hitters lately. Fred, can you back me up with the numbers? No, any manipulation of statistics to show Macias having success will have this site and all visiting it sucked into a black hole by Gremlins.
  6. He's basically equivalent to Bradford. Seems like a lateral move to downgrade in the OF and pick up a horrible SP.
  7. So Oakland went from Bradford, Byrnes, and a prospect to Payton, Witasick, and Kennedy? Unimpressive IMO.
  8. ok. the guys name seems to appear in every other thread these days, and I have bitten my tongue up until now. has anyone taken a gander at the Cubs DL the past couple of years? how about read anything written about the Cubs between the months of March and July the past two years? fill in the blanks for me..."the Cubs could make a run if their _________ staff stays __________." why would anyone on earth even want to take that chance, especially considering he will be this offseasons highest paid free agent? So using that argument, you'd want the Cubs get rid of Aramis Ramirez because his groin injuries makes him too much of a health risk? AJ Burnett is an amazing talent and every team that can afford him (that includes the Cubs) should be interested in adding him to their payroll. Ramirez's groin injuries are a far cry from Burnett's elbow troubles. 2002-2005 Home: 2.81 ERA, 1.12 WHIP Road: 4.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP
  9. Why would the White Sox be looking to add a SP, rather than another bat?
  10. JVB is also in the game. I don't think Cedeno will be there.
  11. Valid point. Maybe a 3 way deal that sends Kearns and Patterson to Washington for Wilkerson? Or how about focusing on Church?
  12. If the Giants are going to deal Schmidt, I think they're going to want more than Patterson and Rusch. Even then, I don't know if they'd want Patterson with Ellison in CF, or Rusch with his player option. I do like the idea of inserting ourselves in a Schmidt deal though.
  13. Ah, that explains it, thanks. Weird that I haven't caught him on any of their telecasts that I've flipped to.
  14. The first person in the thread posed it as a question, and every poster after said that it won't happen, however great it would be if it did. No one said it would happen.
  15. Normally in that situation the A's would give the Cubs permission to negotiate an extension with Kotsay on their terms. The A's gave Kotsay a NTC through 2006 per Rotoworld.
  16. From here (Non-Premium) basically to the end of the thread.
  17. I can't stand Buck because he editorializes all the time. When Rogers came into the game, the first thing you heard was about how he and possibly McCarver(didn't want to speak for him) had a change of heart about Rogers playing in the game. Same thing with the Randy Moss incident. He immediately went into saying that it was disgraceful, disgusting, and other such disses. On a related note, I was surprised when Buck was not doing Cardinal PBP on FSN this year. What's the story behind that?
  18. Someone didn't read the end of the Dubois/Patterson demotion thread.
  19. I agree that it's a ridiculous idea in theory, but don't underestimate the stupidity of Bowden.
  20. I'll do that deal any day of the week, but I'm not sure if Bowden would. He wouldn't part with Wilkerson in a proposed Sosa deal this winter, and Sosa has more value in Bowden's mind than Patterson IMO.
  21. I hope the Cards get Wells too.
  22. a prelude to dealing byrnes? Kielty is better than Payton though. And even if he wanted a platoon partner since Kielty can't hit righties, he's got Thomas and Cust in AAA for no player cost, and they won't be any worse than Payton. The only way that you can justify this deal is if Beane turns Payton into a player/reliever better than Bradford, which I don't think is possible.
  23. Anyone know what Oakland's motivation for this deal is? Looks like a pretty dumb move by Beane.
  24. Nomar is gone to me. I really don't expect him to play the rest of the year. If he does, great, but I'm not going to get excited about someone coming back from ripping their groin off the bone to play shortstop. Walker Barrett Lee Ramirez Burnitz Dubois(if I'm making the lineup, then I'm playing the best LF we have) Nomar Hairston(Nomar and Hairston are interchangeable) If Corey returns, stick him 7th and bump Nomar to 8th.
