  1. I'm pretty sure that it was only for last offseason, but not 100% positive.
  2. Nah, lefty starting today. Wait til we hit a stretch of righties. Murton will be glued to the bench same as Cedeno, who is in a really bad situation, as he's getting skipped even vs. lefties That's too bad for Cedeno too, because about the only time that Neifi even resembles a useful offensive player is when he's facing lefties. He's got a .480 SLG against them this year, as opposed to a .350 range against righties. Against lefties, he's actually borderline useful, since he definitely has proven himself defensively with his great range. Against righties, Neifi is beyond helpless. Too bad Ronny doesn't bat lefty. Actually, even as a righty, he can't be any worse than Neifi right? Not that Dusty would be astute enough to even notice Neifi's splits... Neifi vs. Righties April: .367/.392/.490/.882, 51 PA's May: .258/.280/.348/.628, 92 PA's June: .224/.239/.282/.521, 87 PA's July: .194/.188/.226/.414, 31 PA's Neifi vs. Lefties April: .375/.412/.813/1.225, 17 PA's May: .263/.263/.474/.737, 19 PA's June: .250/.250/.417/.667, 24 PA's July: .286/.333/.387/.720, 15 PA's While he has been better against lefties, I'd still say that Cedeno could at least produce the low 700s OPS v. LH that Neifi is likely to put up the rest of the season.
  3. Was that booing after Murton's pop out? Murton was booking it around the bases.
  4. You're probably going to offend some people with this statement.
  5. In the game thread they are saying that Blanco wore 24 in Winter Ball and had success with it, so he changed to have a change in luck. Seems to be working so far.
  6. Seriously though, is that Clooney's voice in those Bud commercials?
  7. people (not bob or len) think that it means we are getting an incoming player, probably via trade. there is a list of current players with the #9 on page 15 of this thread. :D Pat and Ron said something about 24 being his winter ball number. I know people are kidding around, but if somebody is going to give up his number to a new acquisition, they are going to wait until that player gets here and offers them some sort of payment for the jersey. Pfft, Carlos Guillen requires a one week waiting period of no one having his jersey before he can take it.
  8. Blanco changed his number from 9 to 24. So it's painfully obvious to anyone that knows anything that a trade for another 9 is in the works. Duh. Or Todd Hundley is coming back. :o That was also mentioned. We chose to ignore the possibility.

  10. ? I don't follow. I just expect too much from him I guess. He has 5 Ks, so that accounts for a larger number of pitches. But, at the same time, I'd like to see him go as deep as possible and with his elbow still being injured, high PCs don't really allow for that. 16 pitches per inning gets him thru 6 easy, it only takes one short inning to stretch that further. He hasn't really been wild, his excess pitches have been foul balls mostly. Hard for me to blame him for that.
  11. It's no guarantee he gets a hit. Its good, aggressive baseball with two outs and the pitcher's spot up. It took a perfect throw to get the out. Bingo, it took two perfect throws to get Neifi, and he was right at the plate when the throw arrived. I'd rather try to get the run and risk leading off with the pitcher than count on the pitcher to drive in that run. WALKAH!
  12. Let the exaggerations about Murton's defense commence.
  13. Maybe not that, but he did guarantee that he'll get PH for once a RH comes in. That's a good gamble by Speier. Good relay by the Pirates.
  14. Was that George Clooney voicing that Budweiser commercial?
  15. From what I'm hearing/reading, Hendry wouldn't. What I am wondering is who he would consider dealing for Dunn? I'd think he'd deal Harvey or Dopirak, one of Hill/Nolasco/Pinto, and a major league ready starter like Mitre. Enough? Too much? Help me out here, do the Reds need a shortstop? They just sent Felipe Lopez to Detroit so I doubt SS is a need. Not sure about 2B though.... Are you sure about this? As in "sent him to the All-Star game". I had to read that a couple times too.
  16. Kearns has only produced one year of his major league career, and he did it at a completely unsustainable BABIP(.370s I believe). I find it very very unlikely that Dunn all of a sudden stops walking. Walk rate is one of the most constant and predictable statistics. As has been said before, Dunn is not "slow", although he's not going to break any land speed records. Despite his low batting average, he's one of the most productive players in baseball, and he's only 25, so there's a likelihood that he can/will improve that BA. Dunn's defense I don't really care about, his bat more than makes up for the marginal defensive downgrade he likely is.
