  1. And his second AB too... there's no way he ever plays for the Cubs; 161 walks in his last 236 games of minor league ball is completely unacceptible to the current Wrigley regime. Dusty would make fun of him for walking too much. ha ha, "Swing the bat, dude!" I can totally envision how his major league career would play out if, by some miracle, Dusty ever gave him a chance to play regularly. He would start out walking a lot, and then Dusty would start poking fun at him for not being aggressive enough, or even tell him to be more aggressive or he'd get benched. So, being a young impressionable player trying to do anything to make his manager happy, Sing would start hacking at everything, his walks would go way down, his average would drop like a rock, and he'd turn back into the hitter he was during his first couple of seasons in the minors. Then the Cubs would deem him a flop and farm him out to Iowa. Man, that just makes me depressed. You skipped the part where he gets traded for Jody Gerut. Oh wait, you were talking about Sing. Hmm.
  2. Peralta? He's homegrown. Phillips, who has struggled mightily at the big league level with mild success at AAA, is the guy they got for Colon, along with Sizemore and Lee.
  3. When you're there see if you can get them to send the Cubs a certain SS. No Cuse I don't live near there anymore.
  4. I see you're online Chicubs, make a selection por favor. Oh, and IMB is trying to be the anti-Vance.
  5. player a appears to be burnett's season line both home and away. burnett's actually 3.51 era, 1.28 whip, 6.36 k/9 on the road. Gah. Well, that illustrates the point more I guess.
  6. Why do we want Schmidt? He's been worse than Maddux this year, all those innings are starting to take their toll.
  7. No way would I have an open air stadium in Minneapolis. A lot of rainouts (and some snowouts) and miserable games. April and October games? Brrrrr. It has a roof, but it still looks like cold air could get in, if not precipitation. Brrrr indeed.
  8. What's another good market? I know they'd draw in Vegas and they'd have casino sponsors out the wazoo, but then there's that whole "Gambling" issue... it wouldn't fly. You'd have to take ALL MLB games off the books, not just Marlins games. IIRC, the other biggest markets without a team are Portland, Vegas, Charlotte, and New Orleans, not in any particular order.
  9. Player A Road splits: 2.90 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 8.07 K/9 Player B Road splits: 2.93 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 7.04 K/9 Can you tell which is Burnett and which is Millwood?
  10. The problem is that they have one of the worst farm systems in baseball. In their preseason rankings, BA says only Detroit and St. Louis are worse.
  11. Walker has a cheap option that we'd be crazy not to pick up.
  12. They also normalize it for park factors.
  13. I'd like to see that OPS up a bit higher, though. yeah, even if he was playing ss i'm not sure that i'd be particualrly thrilled with that little power at his age. I'm not thrilled with the overall numbers, just the fact that he had a good night. He got off to a good start in AA, but had been in a bit of a funk.
  14. With the 35th pick, Cut for Cap Space selects, Fred Taylor, Running Back, Jacksonville
  15. Yay Montanez. He's up to .287/.336/.417/.753 in 128 AA Plate Appearances.
  16. But he'll be back in September to pick up that time. September time doesn't count. If he has less than 130 at bats he will still be considered a rookie next year. I don't know about for Rookie of the Year consideration, but September still counts toward service time towards arbitration and free agency. I'd be very very upset if the Cubs demoted Murton just so he'd be in contention for an award next year.
  17. Ah. What formula for Runs Created were you using?
  18. Zambrano put up a 3.66 ERA in 108 innings at age 21. Dusty didn't unearth his talent.
  19. The retractable roof in Minnesota still looks like it would let cold air in.
  20. Seriously, I think Cris Collinsworth and Art Monk were his next two picks.
  21. But he'll be back in September to pick up that time.
  22. Is Kane Davis the best you can do in the 7th inning Milwaukee? Sheesh.
  23. If you want a guy like Ryan Church playing OF, you may as well keep Sing. Here are their respective lines, Sing's from this year, Church's from 2003, when he was in AA: Church: 261/325/429 Sing: 284/396/556 Now granted, Church is producing in the Bigs this year (294/352/480) while Sing's still a prospect. But for all the overhype some spout about Cub prospects, Sing seems like the real deal. He's quietly put up some excellent numbers that seem almost sure to land him in Chicago in the near future. If I were Hendry he'd be untouchable. If it were just for Church I would agree. But Church is major league proven and the proposed deal would also land us a pretty solid major league proven arm in Armas Jr. A Rotation of Prior, Z, Wood, Armas Jr, and Maddux would be pretty tough to beat and relativly realistic to aquire. Plus Church is pretty young and so is Armas Jr I believe. Armas isn't any good.
  24. Is that before or after the Burnitz double? :D
