  1. BA has G/F numbers for this year. Hill had a 0.77 at WT, and a 1.02 at Iowa.
  2. It's all relative I suppose. I have never seen a study that indicates teams FG % goes down towards the end of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case though. Entering the game tonight IU led the nation in FG%. I'm not sure if that is still the case. Some of that may be tired legs, but I'd guess that in major conferences FG% drops from playing solid competition in every single game. It doesn't matter if it's the ACC/B10/B12/Big East or if they are having an up or down year, there's none of the extreme patsies that ALL teams play in the nonconference schedule. didn't I say that? I used more words, no fair!

  4. Very good minor league numbers at age appropriate levels, just entering his prime, and has been serviceable against LHP in his big league time.
  5. Do you have a link where it says that the entirety of the signing bonus is up front? No, but I read it in more than one place at the time. I don't know how to search older Rotoworld posts, but I'm sure it's on there. Maybe cubs.com too?? I can't seem to find any contract info in previous Jones entries at Rotoworld, or in the cubs.com story. I think there's another cubs.com story with contract details that I couldn't find though, there normally is.

  7. Patterson, Walker, Angels prospect to Seattle Pierre to the Angels Ibanez, Kennedy, Reed to the Cubs Maybe we send another prospect to Seattle too, but that makes us better IMO.
  8. Dee Brown Maurice Ager ??? Marco Killingsworth Paul Davis
  9. Augie really doesn't worry me at all, I don't see him being on the roster at any juncture.
  10. From who? The Royals and who else? I'd rather platoon with the Cubs than start everyday in KC too. I wouldn't assume quite yet that he'll start everyday. I don't think that's the angle he's talking about. He's saying the Cubs didn't give Jones 8 figures over 3 years to be a part time player. It was also rumored that the Cards were pursuing Jones.
  11. Restovich is the type of NRI we need to be giving out. I hope he beats out Grissom.
  12. Kennedy isn't a bad option by any means, but exchanging Walker + for him isn't a great idea.
  13. Hunter Cantwell did a great job for Louisville...he's about as tough as they come. What a way to step up in a pressure situation. And Marcus Vick is a punk with absolutely no class. How can everyone in the world see him stomp his cleat into Dumervil's calf but none of the officials did? What a loser...... He just got out of prison so maybe he thought Dumervil was going to take his smokes? I can't believe Syracuse knocked your QB out for the year. :x Just got out of prison...? News to me. Next years premature top 5, on ESPN OSU Texas ND USC Florida If Vince Young returns, Texas has to be #1. I can't see ND ranked that high with that defense. And LSU is in my top 3. USC won't be in the top 5 next year. Call it the Krenzel Principle. End the year or start the year? End the year. Yeah, they'll probably be ranked top 5 to start, just like OSU was after their championship.

  15. .268/.363/.488/.851 .281/.349/.508/.857 One of these is Geoff Jenkins, the other is Craig Wilson. Craig can't hit the ball during the day? .274/.380/.505/.885 the past three years, just as good as Jenkins's .294/.366/.527/.893 over that time frame. My bad on the day stats for Craig, I looked at last years only... .217 (he was hurt most of the year) Geoff Jenkins is a very streaky hitter, someone who looks lost at the plate for 9 strait at bats, then goes 4-4 the next day. Craig Wilson is exactly that, someone we don't need in the outfield. (I am not defending J.Jones in this conversation) Last year Craig Wilson had back to back 0-fers three times in around 60 games. Derrek Lee had 7 in 158 games last year. That's a pretty baseless and ultimately inconsequential reason not to want Wilson to shore up our joke of an OF. Craig Wilson shouldn't have back to back 0-fers, he is not a power hitter. This is getting out of hand. Yes, Craig Wilson is a power hitter, a pretty good one at that. And whether you are a power hitter or not, saying you shouldn't have back to back 0-fers is ridiculous. In his best season ever, Juan Pierre had 5 back to back 0-fers, two of those lasting 3 days.

  17. That makes up IsoP, which is more or less a meaningless statistic. If Juan Pierre had 75 doubles and 30 triples next season, that does not mean he hits with power. Having power, in the purest baseball sense, is the ability to hit a home run. IsoP is not a meaningless statistic at all. IsoP is very very predictive. It remains much more constant than other offensive metrics, because it excludes the variation in average caused by BABIP. Juan Pierre would have hit for power if he put up that line, but he won't, because as he has proven(with the IsoP to back it up) he can't.

  19. His OBP and power are much tougher to ignore. K's are not a crippling negative. 16, 18, 29, 5 is not exactly a power hitter. He has some pop but nothing to write home about. His OBP is nice, but not telling of his whole game. Power is NOT Home Runs. I can't understate how important that is, and it needs to be repeated. Wilson's career .220 IsoP is very good, he's a good to very good offensive corner outfieder. EDIT: For his career, a HR every 22 PA's isn't bad at all either. If Power is NOT Home Runs, what is it then? Getting past first base by yourself. ALL extra base hits make up a player's power, and Wilson is very good at hitting for it, even if you only consider HR.
  20. Greenberg is overrated on here because we say he'll be a (good) 4th outfielder?

  22. Wilson's arbitration eligible, I think 2nd year. There have been newspaper quotes that Wilson doesn't fit in with "Tracyball", which is apparently what Jim Tracy wants to do with the club.
