  1. I mean, McDaniels' playoffs will be over on Saturday so.....
  2. Running tab: GM interviews requested Ed Dodds- Colts Assistant GM & VP of Player Personnel Morocco Brown- Colts Director of College Scouting Kwesi Adofo Mensah- Browns VP of Football Operations Glenn Cook- Browns VP of Player Personnel Jeff Ireland- Saints Assistant GM & VP of College Personnel Rick Smith- Former Texans GM & Pres. of Football Operations Ran Carthon- 49ers Director of Pro Personnel Omar Khan- Steelers VP of Football and Business Administration Joe Schoen- Bills Assistant GM Eliot Wolf- Patriots Director of Scouting HC interviews requested Leslie Frazier- Bills DC Brian Daboll- Bills OC Doug Pedersen- Former Eagles HC (no request needed) Matt Eberflus- Colts DC Byron Leftwich- Bucs OC Todd Bowles- Bucs DC Nathaniel Hackett- Packers OC Brian Flores- Former Dolphins HC (no request needed) Dan Quinn- Cowboys DC I don't think there's a bad GM candidate there, except for Ireland, and even he's not a terrible candidate if he's learned from his previous stint with the Dolphins. The HC candidates have a few guys I'd hate (Frazier, Pederson, Quinn), a few guys I'd be fine with (Daboll, Leftwich, Bowles), and a few guys I'd feel really happy about depending on the staff they could build (Eberflus, Flores, Hackett). I'd still love to see Josh McDaniels, Kellen Moore, Kevin O'Connell, and Mike McDaniel brought in.
  3. I kinda want to see him as the guy that runs with the 2s and ISOs and creates. He's really good at catch-and-shoot, but I feel like he could do so much more. Granted, it's good that he doesn't need to.
  4. I think I'd rather keep Desai than Fangio back. I think he has some upside as a future HC. And if it's not in Chicago, he'd bring back comp picks. But I truly think he can be a really good DC. I know Fangio is good, but I can't help but to think there could be some letdown or resentment after he worked so hard to get a HC job and be given a raw deal. I'd love meshing the Flores (Belichick) and Desai (Fangio) defenses together if the Bears hired a defensive coach.
  5. they're interviewing like half a dozen guys they've spoken to before. Yeah, McDaniels probably ain't happening. Polian is a Colts guy. McDaniels spurned the Colts. Probably some bitter feelings there. Doesn't sound like anyone has reached out to him yet.
  6. The thing with these offensive guys is that the really good ones tend to develop really good ones as well. Kyle Shanahan had Matt and Mike LaFleur, Sean McVay, Mike McDaniel all under him. Matt LaFleur has an OC that's a hot HC candidate. McVay has had guys under him hired already and has O'Connell who I love. So ideally, even if you get the OC so right that you lose him, then you should have his replacement being groomed underneath him and potentially promoted. If you say 2 years of a OC that gets poached and then 2 years under that OC's QB coach or whatever, then that's 4 years of good offense. By then, Fields will be going into his 6th year and he'd presumably be a pretty good QB and it won't matter who the OC is.
  7. Ireland was kind of a disaster in Miami. Great 1st season, but all losing years after that. Apparently he's the guy that asked Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute or something (there is now a rule against these type of pre-draft interview questions). Also, had a poor response to the Incognito/Jonathan Martin bullying situation. They were kind of a PR mess when he was there. Not a huge fan of him being the top football guy running things.
  8. Loomis gets most of the credit, but the Saints draft quality took a 180 degree turn once they hired Jeff Ireland. He and Khai Hartley would be huge losses for the NO front office. Ireland is no longer speculation. Reported by Schefter now. Asteriks removed.
  9. I honestly don't know if the GM thing matters. The reason you can't interview playoff coaches because they are involved in game-planning, practice, and so forth to get ready for the playoff game. GMs don't have anything to do with that stuff, so I think you can interview a GM candidate from a playoff team whenever you want...but I could be wrong.
  10. Dodds and Flores would be a slam dunk depending on the OC. Dodds' ties could come in huge with the OC hire. Maybe Flores can lure O'Connell from the Rams with the promise of a chance to completely run the offensive side of the ball. Flores was on the Pats staff when O'Connell was a backup QB there in 2008. Go from laughing stock to potentially one of the best FO/coaching staffs in the game.

  12. It's these sorts of unforced errors that are why he had to go. I think he's a really good scout but just way too much of this horsefeathering nonsense. Unforced errors. I like that. But yeah, probably didn't have to give Dalton that much. Probably didn't have to trade a pick and pay Foles. Maybe didn't have to trade up 1 spot for Mitch. Definitely didn't have to give Glennon 18M guaranteed or whatever. And that's just at QB
  13. To be fair, the GM in Miami is black as well and there was reportedly some issues with them getting along. Yeah. There were some comments about the turnover of the assistant coaches and lack of communication between coach and management. Add that to a 7 game losing streak and I can see the firing. Also a 7 game win streak and sweep of a pretty good Belichick led Patriots team. He'll have no shortage of opportunities, I'd hope. I also read a tweet that said Flores was a big reason Watson wanted to go to Miami. So that is pretty interesting as well.
  14. *googles Brian Flores* *sees skin color* *realizes why Flores didn’t get more time* To be fair, the GM in Miami is black as well and there was reportedly some issues with them getting along.
  15. this seems to sum it up lol i don't really care about any of this and most of it is meaningless but it has made for incredible entertainment. Yep.
  16. Pep Hamilton is a good name with ties to Harbaugh if Jimbo comes back to Chicago. Pep was the QB coach for Herbert last year and has done a good job with Davis Mills this year. Also a former Lovie assistant so checks that history box they seem to care about.
  17. His history of developing QBs is the biggest criticism I have. He's a former QB who is supposed to be a QB/offensive guru, but has never really shown he can be. He had Andrew Luck at Stanford. Luck is literally the top QB prospect of the 21st century, and Harbaugh left before he was done in college. I don't give Harbaugh credit for developing him. He had Alex Smith and Kaepernick in SF. Smith resurrected his career there and Kap obviously led them to a SB. But the passing offenses in SF finished ranked 28th, 23rd, 30th and 30th in Harbaugh's 4 years there. And then at Michigan.....he can recruit his QBs. Can go into their house tell them he knows what it takes to become an NFL QB like him, tout Andrew Luck and a SB on his resume. But he hasn't produced anything close to worthwhile QB at Michigan. Harbaugh is a pound the ball and play defense kind of coach. The Bears need a guy that's going to turn Justin Fields into the type of QB that Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Justin Herbert have become. Basically, Harbaugh needs to come with a good OC. I love Kevin O'Connell from the Rams. He may be a guy open to a lateral move in order to get experience calling plays. Maybe O'Connell and Harbaugh know each other from one being QB at San Diego St. while the other coached University of San Diego. But I don't think he's getting Greg Roman from his brother to run the show.

  19. Looking at those plays, it's funny. We heard when Trubisky was the QB that Nagy's offense schemes guys open (but Mitch was missing them). But in all those plays, exactly 1 guy is open every time (actually 0 are open until Fields escapes the pocket on the Mooney TD). No wonder the offense didn't work. If the team takes away that 1 designed to be open, everyone else is pretty much running decoy routes. Explains a lot why some guys look like they aren't expecting the ball at times. Also makes me wonder if they don't do a lot of scramble drill stuff because either Nagy was stubborn about his guy definitely being open AKA design would work or if the thought was the QB would just run if nothing was open (moreso for Mitch and Fields).
  20. I don't think there's any rush for the HC. If one of the assistants they want is coaching in the Superbowl, you have to wait until after that anyway. SB still over a month away. That being said, if it's a guy like Harbaugh, I'd imagine that decision comes pretty quickly (next 2 weeks makes sense), since there are implications in the college game and no need to wait out any candidates. So, I'm thinking GM within a couple weeks. HC after the Superbowl.
  21. Bears Blog Jeff is going to have people hanging onto his every word. A legend in the vein of wetbutt23 and katyperrysbootyhole.
  22. Its gonna be a super team of consultants this time. Accorsi, Polian, Dungy, Parcells. They're all 90
  23. I think, at least early on, George didn't have much of an opinion, or at least conviction in his opinion. He clearly relied heavily on Phillips after coming out of the ticket sales department. He basically said Ted makes the decisions back when he became chairman and his job was to help Ted make those decisions. Maybe he feels more confident in himself making the decisions now. Yeah. That's what I'm taking from this. It's actually feasible. He's consulted with guys that know football. I'm sure he's spoken with plenty of other owners and gotten advice. Not saying he's an expert at this point, but he isn't any less qualified than Phillips to make decisions.
  24. Let's Gooooo!
  25. GM- Ed Dodds HC- Matt Eberflus OC- Kevin O'Connell (leaves Rams for lateral move for a chance to call plays) DC- Sean Desai or GM- Dave Ziegler HC- Josh McDaniels OC- whoever McDaniels handpicks DC- Jerod Mayo Don't care what they do about President. I'd rather go different organizations for GM/HC, but these seem like easy pairings.
