  1. Bulls have enough scoring when Zach/Coby are healthy. They need interior defense to deal with Giannis, Embiid, Durant and others.
  2. No idea how good he is but I love hiring the guy whose unit almost single handedly eliminated the Packers from the playoffs if only for trolling reasons Sounds like they've generally ranked low in ST numbers. But maybe that's just an end of roster issue for SF. Bisacchia's ST also routinely rank in the 20s. Literally his only value was that he was a HC for half the year this year.
  3. That's why I checked this thread first.
  4. He also lost 4 games at Michigan at least like 5-6 times, with players he got to handpick himself on the recruiting trail. His offenses were also all in the 20s in the NFL (and typically around 60s in NCAA). LOL why do people keep saying stuff like this? Excluding the weird COVID season he lost 4+ games at Michigan twice in 6 seasons. He had the team a win over Ohio State away from the CFP in 3 of his 6 seasons, succeeding once. Certainly deserves criticism for not beating Ohio State enough to make it to the CFP but people vastly underrate his overall body of work at Michigan due to a handful of (admittedly important) games. But he was roughly as successful as Lloyd Carr was in terms of overall record and conference record. Harbaugh's record at Michigan in 6 seasons (again excluding COVID season, if you want to count it ok): 59-16 (41-13) Lloyd Carr's last 6 years at Michigan: 56-20 (38-10) My bad. I think I was putting the last 2 Brady Hoke seasons on Harbaugh
  5. harbaugh is not worth all this wtf lol he's fine. in 4 of his HC years at SF, he went to the NFC Championship 3 times and the SB 1. I think blowing off the Vikings hiring Harbaugh is a mistake. I dont think he alone will turn the Vikings into a juggernaut, but his hiring will likely be a good thing rather than bad for the Vikings. On the flip side, Eberflus is a total unknown at this point He also lost 4 games at Michigan at least like 5-6 times, with players he got to handpick himself on the recruiting trail. His offenses were also all in the 20s in the NFL (and typically around 60s in NCAA).
  6. I know this is obviously cherry-picking his great moments, but I don't know how anyone can watch this video and still say that Fields is a failed QB who can't be salvaged at this point. To be fair it's largely rival fans looking at his numbers, but the number of people who treat Fields a bust is ridiculous. Also a nice reminder of how tough the Bears schedule was this year, as the highlights include games with the Rams, Bengals, Raiders, Packers, Bucs, 49ers, Cardinals, Packers again, just relentless. And Fields did it with an offensive line that was easily bottom third in the NFL (I think Peters was mostly solid, but everyone else was pretty bad), and I'm excited to see what Fields can do with an offense tailored to him and an OL that can give him 3 seconds of pass protection. One of the things I think we will never know is how good/bad this OL really was. I don't think it can be understated how bad the scheme really was. Lot of stop routes, not throwing to receivers on the move or in space. Lot of obvious passing situations, most which featured QB in shotgun and a 5-man protection. The Bears OL was middle of the road in terms of pass block win rate and stats like that, but they gave up the league's most sacks despite being bottom 10 in dropbacks. This wasn't a good OL by any means, but certainly there are worse out there....including 1 playing in the Superbowl.
  7. So far we have: 1. Tried to bribe his coach to lose games for a higher draft pick 2. Held a sham interview while hungover or drunk 3. Held a sham interview to skirt diversity rules 4. Created a hype video highlighting the history of a racist mascot name Let's see if we can't get all 32 idiots to do idiot things this offseason!
  8. He was definitely the first I saw that said Brady for QB coach/passing game coordinator. Other rumors was for OC. did he make that call before OC was filled, or after? I don't think it really says anything about your reporting ability to link an obvious candidate for a job to an interview for the job. Pretty sure it was before filled. Maybe it was after the rumors that Getsy was offered the job, but definitely before he officially got the job which was like 2 days ago
  9. It certainly seems like he may have a case here. Either way, probably career suicide for him at the NFL level. I hope he wins, because there's 0 doubt in my mind that the NFL does token interviews because they already know who they want to hire anyway. Progress has definitely been made in the right direction, but this will at worst, bring more light to the NFL's hiring practices.
  10. how is that a score for him, he was linked to the job by others a week ago He was definitely the first I saw that said Brady for QB coach/passing game coordinator. Other rumors was for OC.
  11. "Much love and respect to my franchise for the last 2 years, and only the last 2 years of 22"
  12. Assuming the Vikings do get Harbaugh, they are going to have some interesting decisions to make. 6 defensive starters are FAs. 14Mil projected over the cap. They can't really restructure Cousins (and his 45Mil cap hit) without creating dead money in void years, because it's his last year under contract. With Harbaugh, it makes a ton of sense for them to go full Rams and try to add 1 more weapon on offense, an elite pass rusher and probably a solid CB or two. Going from Zimmer to Harbaugh, along with the Packers demise, probably puts them in the 10-11 win range on paper. So they could easily be a top contender. Even though Cousins isn't great, he's probably better than Jimmy G who has gone to a SB and was 3 points short of doing it again. But they probably also shouldn't extend 35-year old Cousins because he may not be good enough to get them over the top. So, they'd be looking at Harbaugh to develop a young QB in 2023 and beyond, and probably be a rebuilding team for a couple years. I'm not sure Harbaugh wants to do that or if the Vikings want to admit that, especially if they do win 11 games and have no ring to show for it after 2022.
  13. Whenever I see a statement like this, I hear George Costanza. "Me? Oh yeah, I'm a big analytics guy! LOVE those A-NA-LYTICS!"
  14. Yeah, I was in a fantasy league in 1993, I believe. One of my classmates' dads did everything by hand. Get the Monday morning newspaper (and Tuesday for MNF games) and read boxscores to get the weekly statistics, then did the math to figure out the points based on the scoring system. I don't believe PPR was a thing back then, but I remember being a senior in HS and figuring out if I won on Mondays.
  15. I mean if Olave drops, okay. But he isn't Chase, like you said. I'm generally a proponent of "surround your QB with weapons" though. Shore up Center and make a decision on Daniels/Whitehair (but I don't think the gross investment has to be large) to make the line solidly median. But it's a pretty interesting WR FA class too. And at 39 it's just so hard to bank on too much. And if nothing matters more to Fields development than legit weapons, grab certainty in FA. I figure they need to go 3 deep if Getsy prefers to run 11 personnel, as I've read. So grab two strong weapons next to Mooney. If an Olave drops its a great addition and you run 4 deep for 3 spots. But your Fields support isn't dependent on it then. You're way more confident in Jenkins and Borom than me. I don't think you have much of a choice but be confident in those two. Like I have posted on here before, the Bears aren't going to get one of the top 3 guys (Orlando Brown, Cam Robinson, Terron Armstead) for upwards of 15-20Mil per. The next tier, Trent Brown may be a nice add for 10-12Mil but after that you're looking at guys like Morgan Moses, Eric Fisher, and other guys who are middle of the pack OTs. If best case in 8-10Mil per and a middle of the pack OT, you might as well go with the young guys and hope at least 1 of them develops into that level right away for much, much cheaper. 8-10Mil is middle of the pack OT money, but top 10-20 guard money. Plus, you hired an OC that likes the RPO. You can help the tackles by getting the ball out quicker, chipping with RBs, and keeping TEs in against tough rushers. Probably have to get a strong swing OT (4-5Mil) just in case one of those guys can't play outside (or Jenkins back is a huge issue), but to truly upgrade them you gotta spend a bunch of money that the Bears don't have if they want to fill 28 other roster spots.
  16. I know they were both consensus top 5 picks and are/were a much more prolific duo, but man I'm hoping the Bears can replicate the Bengals and get Fields' top target in the draft this year. I'm already hearing doubters on Chris Olave and whispers that he may not even be a Day 1 WR. Fields fell way more than he should have. If Olave does too, I'm all for a reunion similar to Cincinnati. 17. MyCole Pruitt! Great signing. May want to offer him 10M/year just to make sure the Bears get him.
  18. Yeah, I'm not concerned about the lack of experience. 3 of the Final 4 teams: SF- Hired Shanahan who had never been a HC before, HE hired a GM who had literally 0 NFL front office experience, and hired a DC who had never called plays (Saleh). They didn't have an OC right away, but obviously Shanahan called plays and had experience there. LAR- Had a GM on the job for 5 years, but had 5 of 5 losing seasons. Hired a 1st time HC, and OC but an experienced DC (Wade Phillips). This was basically the same situation as the Bears when Pace hired Nagy CIN- Their owner is the GM. Hired a 1st time HC, with only 1 year of coordinator experience, who brought in a 1st time OC and DC.
  19. Agreed, I can't see the Browns granting a lateral move. What would you think of the duo Dan Roushar (NIU alum NIU/Illini coach) and Brendan Nugent (Former Bears coach) from the Saints? I don't know much about either. Seems like a package duo at NO who work together on the run game. I'd gladly take some Saints OL guys, though.
  20. I would say Gretzky had the best career of any athlete in team sports. But Brady's is the most impressive considering football is the most team driven of the team sports and he proved last year that he's the biggest needle mover in the game's history.
  21. IDK how the Browns just let Callahan go, but I hope they do. Also, Mike Munchak is currently unemployed, so he could be a nice fallback option if Callahan doesn't work out.
  22. I'm actually rooting for this. We've seen MLB and NBA coaches essentially go from playing to coaching. I'd like to see how this works out in the NFL. McCown could hire coordinators that run that side of the ball. I'm sure he could probably call plays too. But I'd suspect he'd trust guys with those jobs while essentially being the QB coach and leading the team, which he has done from on the field before. It probably only happens with long-time vet QBs, maybe a LB like Ray Lewis was, an inspirational team leader type, but this would be fun to see how this works out.
  23. Think I saw that Alan Williams, currently Indys DB coach will interview. No other specific names that I've seen Wouldn't be surprised if he goes outside of his immediate connections. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2022/1/28/22907415/report-chicago-bears-matt-eberflus-3-indianapolis-colts-assistant-coaches-williams-rowe-borgonzi I threw out Kris Richard as an interesting name they could look at. Spent 2 years under Marinelli so knows the scheme. Brings great knowledge of the Seattle cover 3 scheme and has spent the last year under Allen in NO who's obviously done great work. Could bring a nice mix of experiences to meld into the Bears own unique style with Flus. Williams was DC for 2 years in Minnesota (under Leslie Frazier). He had a middle of the pack D his first year (14th points, 16th yards allowed) and then was dead last in D the following year. Richard would be an experienced guy they could definitely look at. Doesn't look like they are going after much experience in coordinators, which I'm guessing is because Eberflus will run that side anyway.
  24. Have we really heard anything even about a potential DC. I thought Borgonzi might be DC, but sounds like he's going to stay an LB coach. We heard Marinelli's name, but I've read they're looking for him more as DL coach, which makes sense since he's 72. It probably doesn't matter in the grand scheme who is the DC, as Flus will call the defense so I can't imagine it will be a huge name. But it almost certainly won't be Desai, who is a 3-4 guy and Flus a 4-3.
  25. Yeah I think playcalling is one of the more overrated aspects that fans complain about. Like I don't think Nagy's issue was play calling, it was that his philosophies sucked. It doesn't matter what plays you call if you have a crappy playbook that you stink at teaching and doesn't fit what the players are able to execute. Nobody is knocking down the door for an Anthony Lynn offense and he churned out a historic rookie season for Herbert as the playcaller. The credit is rightfully going to the guy that developed Herbert.
