That's a lot to give up for a rental of a reliever. But those are probably the most expendable "solid" pieces that the Cubs have. Torres, decent talent, not elite talent, but very good production. May not be able to stay at SS, which is fine considering he'd never play there with the Cubs. McKinney, decent talent, again not elite. Good production, is down this year. Inability to play CF. Heyward and Schwarber on the corners. Warren, decent talent, good production, also down this year. Passed by Matusz as the 6th starter, Cahill also getting stretched out, potential for a trade for a controllable starter with options puts him as possibly the 9th option to start, way down on the RP depth chart. It's too much, but not crippling by any means. What this means for the pursuit of a SP and/or OF scares me though. This may be the team the Cubs go into the postseason with for the most part.
