Anthony Rizzo Willson Contreras Kris Bryant Addison Russell Javier Baez Jorge Soler Kyle Schwarber Dexter Fowler Jake Arrieta David Ross Kyle Hendricks Miguel Montero Ben Zobrist Jason Heyward Jon Lester Hector Rondon Pedro Strop Carl Edwards Matt Szczur Justin Grimm Mike Montgomery Albert Almora Munenori Kawasaki Chris Coghlan Jason Hammel Trevor Cahill Tommy La Stella John Lackey Travis Wood Aroldis Chapman
I was just wondering to myself..."how many votes would I have to be given before I reached Lackey?" I lost count before I got there. Somewhere near 30, I'd imagine. He beats out Wood, for one.
Bryant is obviously the best player and seems like a nice enough guy himself. Baez is the most fun to watch play. Russell is so smooth out there. Schwarbs is a monster. But I just love Rizzo's overall personality combined with his ability. Willson is probably my second favorite already, though. Love that guy.
Now we just need CubbieBum and yanrslatr appearances JC and Jon, too. I remember JC actually showed up out of nowhere for Rizzo's debut. Figured if he'd show up for that, he'd have shown up sometime in the past 2 seasons. And NC and Cuse.
I've made the changes to the list. Once these playoff series end, I'd like to start up a ranking thread and do an end of season ranking with everyone that's interested in contributing. I'll write a bit of code for the analysis over the weekend to show only entries submitted during a given time frame.
My wife asked me why I was so sad last night and I told her that a good friend had passed away. After some hugs and nice words, she asked me who it was. When I said Fred's name, she was a bit confused at first because she didn't know the name and yet I was obviously upset because it was someone close. I explained that I knew Fred through here and I could tell that she really didn't quite understand how I could feel so strongly for someone I knew primarily though interaction here. It has really had me thinking this morning about how much this place and all of you have meant to me over the years. Thank you all for being a part of this community and for being such good friends for a long time now.
Would this be hard to do given the great board crash of 2016, or can you just move one thread over at a time pretty easily? bah...didn't even think about that. Actually, we can do it with any of his posts - just split it from the existing thread and rename the title.
Another thought...if the Cubs make it to the World Series, we should find an old game thread that Fred started back in the dark days, bump it, edit the title and delete out all the old posts so that he can be the game thread starter for that day.
Of course, they didn't give the Illini credit - "Akron, OH native..." I get the feeling that we'll start getting more respect from the media with Lovey there, though.
maybe - probably some of each Do you have any prior knowledge of Smoltz or Matt V showing any type of racism or just making an assumption? By the way you might have prior knowledge. I'm sincerely asking. I'm just going off of 40+ years of watching baseball.
