  1. I remember sneaky being a big advocate that Alcantara would be better than Baez, but I don't remember Kyle writing anything like that for the front page.
  2. On FG predictor this morning, we've finally reached 100.0% for the division. Also, we're sitting at 102.0 expected wins, which is cool.
  3. It would be really stupid to fight a guy named "Duke".
  4. Joe is a slave to save situations
  5. Oh, admit it. You just want to watch the pool scene.
  6. Torture one of their own employees.
  7. lol - sure, walk Dex to face bryant.
  8. holy crap Javy is fast on the turn
  9. I always figured he'd get to that level, just thought it was a year or two away. Imagine then if like heyward becomes heyward or Soler continues to head to beastdom or schwarber is the next Brian Giles or Contreras blah blah. Yeah basically this team is really sick I'm not sure about the pitching, but I expect the offense to basically be playing the game on easy mode next year.
  10. woah woah woah, we still have aBBieta on the mound Cards lost.
  11. Len, re: Russell, "Our baby is growing up"
  12. Ha - which one?
  13. Yeah, but I really want both to miss the playoffs and a Mets sweep is the best way to further that goal right now.
  14. It was more him saying that players are coming into MLB fully formed these days (and peaking earlier than ever) and that it was likely that what we saw in Bryant his rookie year was all that he'd ever be. When our players develop in significant ways at the big league level, it's far more the exception than the norm and probably a testament to the guys we have and the development staff we have all the way up and down, but - again - he wasn't wrong about that in general. That is actually very context dependent. While it is *fairly* true as a generality, it doesn't take long to look around at the young players in MLB to say that it is very far from a hard and fast rule. For every Trout, there are several like Machado.
  15. It's not like he was wrong that it was a concern. Bryant just fixed it. It was more him saying that players are coming into MLB fully formed these days (and peaking earlier than ever) and that it was likely that what we saw in Bryant his rookie year was all that he'd ever be.
  16. TIL that the Cubs are tied for the fewest DP in baseball (or at least, DP that involve the first baseman). Probably related to this http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2016-batting-pitching.shtml (sort by OBP) Well, sure. I didn't say it was unexpected. I just hadn't noticed.
  17. UZR has him fifth best in MLB Also, this http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2016-specialpos_1b-fielding.shtml TIL that the Cubs are tied for the fewest DP in baseball (or at least, DP that involve the first baseman).
  18. It is quite possible that we have already addressed one future rotation spot.
  19. I follow our minors relatively closely for how good the major league team is and I've never heard of him meh - kinda
  20. It's nice that he just had to face Descalso, though
  21. 1) We'll have both Rondon and Strop back by then' 2) Chapman will probably be more flexible 3) There are more off days to rest your key guys 4) Beyond the big three, we'll have Grimm, Edwards and Montgomery 5) We'll have one of Lackey or Hammel in the pen, too.
  22. Looked like it hit the edge of the grass/dirt.
  23. Gattis is also a terrible catcher.
