  1. Yep...that aaron guy is pretty smart. Wish he posted here! ;)
  2. You also have to have confidence that his skillset is going to age well.
  3. Does Rucker roll the ball to the plate or something?
  4. That's not a handstand.
  5. I'm not sure if they'll use it for the starters, but I can see the Cubs rotating relievers through the 10 day DL so they can keep all the guys who are out of options.
  6. lol - he's going to suck.
  7. Grimm may be in a battle with Eddie Butler for the last spot in the pen. If Maples throws strikes all spring, he may beat the both. Alvarez and Simmons also have a reasonable shot at that last spot in the pen.
  8. here's what is on MLB Trade Rumors:
  9. Y'all are really overreacting to the Quintana statement, imo
  10. Or Carlos Martinez, who I love. Wong was born in Hawaii and Pham was born in Las Vagas. that was the joke
  11. No it’s not. Please make many jokes and let’s have general jocularity about the event. meh - it would work better if they didn't have Kolten Wong and Tommy Pham as starters in their lineup.
  12. When you look at only ERA for one guy, only FIP for another guy, only win total for a third guy but not last year his other win totals, and assume their prospects are all good, their rotation is actually pretty good. Well, I did overlook the guy with the shredded shoulder and bionic arm replacement.
  13. Question: Why did the brewers prioritize spending big on Cain when they already had Yelich, Santana & Braun? Given the state of their rotation, shouldn't they have allocated those funds towards pitching?
  14. after the draft
  15. I hope that is true for Jake's sake because I would like him not to be the avatar of this CBA by waiting until June to sign. I strongly hope that St Louis or Milwaukee gives him a $35M/yr for 7 year contract tomorrow.
  16. He does know that most pitcher injuries are to ligaments and tendons, right?
  17. lol - good luck with that, Jake. also.... lol - good luck with that whole adding Arrieta and Archer, sotmrfib
  18. How many does NY have? Will we catch them after we sign Harper?
  19. I don't specifically recall the Harper comparison, but I believe it happened. Folks here were (understandably) really high on Castro and made a lot of optimistic predictions that he did not fulfill. One I recall is that Castro was "guaranteed" to be the next Jeter. Something along those lines. There was at least one person saying there were only 3-5 players in baseball for whom they'd trade Starlin (or something along those lines). It got a little crazy.
  20. In summary, "wwwwaaaaahhhh!!!!! They're bullies!"
  21. I'd just head to camp with what we have right now. Save some room under the cap in case we need additional pitching depth mid year.
  22. I really hope they do something along these lines to give Darvish and Lester as much extra time off between starts as they can. yeah, agreed. would it make sense to do a 6-man rotation every other time around the rotation? Pitchers like to be on a set routine, though
  23. Yeah, just median projections after some down years last year and we are clear, easy favorites in the division. If we get growth from guys like Russell, Schwarbs and Javy...good god. If we get that and bounce backs from Zobrist and Heyward, we could set records. What always amused me most about the SOTMRFIB complaining was them saying that we were thin. We've got guys on the bench that can step in and contribute as valuable regulars at every position but catcher. We now have depth in the rotation, too. Honestly, I'll be really disappointed with anything less than 97 wins. Which is freaking insane.
  24. More than the sequence of the pitchers, I'm curious about how they'll manage usage. Chatwood is an extreme injury risk, Darvish a moderate injury risk and Lester is aging. I wonder if they go to a quasi-6 man rotation or if they play DL shenanigans during the season. Especially in the second half if they have built up a bit of lead and they want to work in time for Smyly and possibly Alzolay.
  25. So glad I got a mixed case of Stone today. Got home and saw the news; took a whole bunch of it and tossed it in the snow to cool it off.
