  1. Agree. I’d rather go quantity that quality. Orioles have those pieces too like Chasner + a bullpen a Hopefully that Chasner guy is a lot better than Cashner. I don't trust him at all.
  2. Cues music.... Life's the same I'm moving in stereo Life's the same except for my shoes Life's the same you're shakin' like tremolo Life's the same it's all inside you
  3. Is it still in my sig? Was there for the longest time.
  4. OMG - someone get a video capture of JD going "DONGGGGG DONGGGGG"
  5. After this has been said by this author.... See - that's when he's standing too close!
  6. Good - I hope he keeps lowering his price.
  7. This would be a nice time to get a dominant outing out of alzolay
  8. He's going to somehow get Baltimore to take Heyward for Machado because...wizard.
  9. I'm really looking forward to the following sequence of events: 1) Cubs trade Russell, Albertos, ODLC and Hatch for Machado & IFA cap space 2) Cubs sign top 2 IFA and everyone else they were already in line for in July 3) Cubs win world series 4) Cubs announce a new deal with Machado, who takes a bit of a discount because he loved it here after his years of misery in Baltimore 5) Cubs find a taker for Heyward, somehow 6) Zobrist retires after winning his third title in four years 7) Cubs sign Bryce, who takes a bit of a discount because he wants to get past the first round of the playoffs 8) Cubs announce extension for Bryant, who loves it here and wants to play with his best buddy for the next 10 years 9) Cubs erect billboard across river from the arch, giving it a permanent middle finger 10) Cubs score 1200 runs next year, but cubs beat writers still complain about how the "feast and famine" offense still had 20 games where they scored less than 4 runs Everyday lineup: RF) Harper 3B) Bryant 1B) Rizzo SS) Machado LF) Schwarber C) Contreras CF) Happ/Almora 2B) Javy Oh yeah, we also move back into the top 10 farm systems
  10. Sharma covered this today: https://theathletic.com/363985/2018/05/22/clubhouse-access-how-the-cubs-uneven-scoring-distribution-compares-around-baseball/ So it is true that they're more boom/bust so far. However people made similar complaints about the 2017 Cubs and they finished the year just fine in that regard. His analysis was pretty flawed. Sharma is comparing the variability for a single team to that of 10 teams combined. Of course that distribution will look more smooth. There really isn't any reason to expect that dip at around 4-5 runs to continue. It will normalize just like it did last year (as you point out).
  11. So... Russell + Albertos + Hatch for Machado + IFA Funds (turns into Victor Victor). Done. Let's move on it.
  12. I'm really happy with the relief depth that Theo assembled this year.
  13. We needed 3 pitchers between last year and the offseason so Eloy was good as gone, imo. Q was a better target than Cole for a lot of reasons and was available last year, Cole maybe wasn’t and who knows if the Pirates deal with us. Then nobody else has been traded, Stroman’s shoulder is toast, Archer has a 6+ ERA and I’ve never really liked him, who else was reasonably available? Sure would’ve been great to jump in on Sale but the timing might not of been there and maybe they don’t trade him to us. Verlander.
  14. He's in the same convo as Trout/Harper IMO. Then again... it's a short list of teenage prospects who raked in AA or higher. Who else would there be in the 21st century? You're asking a different question than Tom. If the question is about who was a better prospect as a teenager, the list is very, very short. If the question is who was a better prospect overall, then it is more open. I think that at least Bryant and Strasburg should be added to the overall list.
  15. Was David weight traveling with the team at that point?
  16. Before Wednesday's game, he was at .669. Which is nnice
  17. Willson has *almost* raised his OPS by .100 today. Started at .733 and is now at .831
  18. And cost us at least one winnable playoff game Chatwood is only going to make the postseason roster if a SP is hurt And Smyly is actually dead.
  19. And cost us at least one winnable playoff game What on earth makes you think he'll make the playoff rotation?
