  1. So that's why Ricketty invited him back into the Cubs fold.
  2. I agree with the pro-Rome talk earlier in this thread. He had a good start to the season and I'm still not over the Bears trying to bring him back from a foot injury on a 5-degree day. I give him props for working to get back on the field after getting what I think is bad direction from the training staff.
  3. I know Walton won ROY in 1989 but I always loved Dwight Smith too. Both flash in the pans unfortunately.
  4. Seeing a lot of mocks with Kayden McDonald - DT - Ohio State going to the Bears in the first round. I'll take it. Really sucks that Ozzy got hurt, having to address LT is such a pain.
  5. Nice job Jed. Go get a real bat and this team could be very good.
  6. I disagree that they're unwatchable. While they might be turnstiles on defense they at least get up and down the court. Hopefully Ayo gets to be the primary ballhandler more now with Coby and Giddey out. He can really zoom past the defense in transition with the ball in his hands.
  7. It's so nice to see everyone laughing at the SEC and labeling them frauds. Two years in a row Bret Beilema has ensured I have a very happy New Year. GO ILLINI
  8. Lions have nothing to play for but pride and revenge against Benjo. Don't like that dynamic.
  9. Giddey and Coby both left the game last night. I'm starting to wonder what the right move with Coby is. He's a good player who fits the system, but he also is now having problems with both calves and still turns the ball over too much IMO. Do we want to give him 5/$150 and hope he stays healthy and gets better, or trade him now? Unfortunately AKME has not shown to be a very proactive front office so they're probably just going to let him walk in the offseason for nothing and I'll continue to bash my head against the wall caring about this team that is run by people who are paid not to care.
  10. The Bears have an awesome (young) coach and awesome (young) quarterback. I keep pinching myself but it's simply the truth.
  11. I think Okoro coming back has really helped them and a big reason why they've started winning again. On a team of mostly turnstiles, he's clearly our best defensive player. I thought it was dumb to give Lonzo another contract but very nice how they flipped him for Okoro. I still think there's so much roster/contract flexibility here. In addition, their flaws are so clearly evident even a basketball novice could see them.
  12. Correct, but the way BJ is talking (saying there are a lot of options to consider) makes me think he could be out for the season. It was the Browns and the rest of the offense is healthy, I would have sat him.
  13. The Bears haven't had me this happy and confident in a long time, but the Rome thing kind of bugs me. I've had a stress fracture in my foot and it's a terrible idea to try to return on such a cold day like yesterday. Hell, I injured mine in high school and it still flares up in cold and/or damp conditions. I checked the weather yesterday and it's going to be 35-40 degrees on Saturday. They should have just sat him an extra week and not risked reaggravation. Not a doctor but just my .02.
  14. Keaton Wagler is a dog. Also has probably seen Friends at some point in his life.
  15. I'm sure this has been mentioned but it's going to be insanely cold for this game. Wind chill -20 kind of stuff. I live downtown Chicago and will not be going outside this weekend.
  16. But I rather like being unhinged and lashing out. Just tired watching a dismal offense; it sure was fun for 2.5 months when we had a legit bat in the middle. Oh well.
  17. Can't wait for all the smart and crafty moves the Cubs make this offseason. Jed deserves another extension for the way he can pay through the nose for an 86 win team. 🤮
  18. Good luck with that. I love being annoying and saying annoying things. 'Oying? 'Nnoying? 🤔
  19. Agreed, I don't like how it feels but we still need to win this one. Hopefully they start to pack in after losing to the lowly Titans.
  20. 2-2 probably gets us into the 'yoffs? Gotta have that Cleveland game and Detroit outside @ home doesn't scare me. Gotta get payback on Green Bay too. First things first, need to take care of business next week against Cleveland.
  21. AKME has been terrible but they likely would have to trade the entire roster to get Giannis. I just don't see that happening. I really hope he goes out west to the Spurs so there would be someone to challenge OKC out there. Don't want the Knicks to get him. Of course OKC could put together a great package quite easily. As ridiculous as that would be, I would prefer that to him landing anywhere in the East. It's probably stupid for me to look at this through the prism of how it would affect the Bulls but old habits die hard.
  22. I'm so mad about the Bulls. That 6-1 start (against mostly good teams while the Bulls were still missing guys) really got my hopes up.
  23. For sure, I like Monangai but he's still more of a rotation guy than bell cow.
  24. I'm surprised everyone seems eager/ok with moving on from Swift. IIRC he has 1/$8 million left on his contract after this season; that seems pretty reasonable for a guy playing as well as he has. He and Monangai seem to complement each other pretty well too. I'd keep him for one more year if possible. The cap situation shouldn't be so dire with a QB on a rookie contract. I will be very mad if they cheap out.
  25. Jonathan Owens get ready to learn Linebacker, buddy.
