  1. The Blackhawks have played 5 more games. True... but the Hawks threads have picked up considerably in the past week. We had a 250 post lead or something and the Bulls caught up... now that more of us are watching and participating... ;) Also, the Winter Classic should help us out some. I post in both anyways, and don't see at as a competition, but more of an accomplishment. Speaking of the Winter Classic, with baseball and football already handled, Wrigley will play host to a third major sport. As last year's game was in a football stadium, I doubt they can claim the same. Does anyone know of any other venue to host three of NFL, NHL, MBA, and MLB? Isn't Wrigley the first MLB stadium to host an NHL game? Regardless... Wrigley is the smartest possible venue to ever host a Wings/Hawks game (or any O-6 teams).... what a great pull by McDonough. Yes it is the MLB stadium. My query was more directed towards venues like the Skydome (Rogers Centre) in Toronto. Which I have since realized has hosted the Bluejays, Raptors, and Bills. Any others?

  3. They said that was Kane's 18th on TSN. Cyno's right
  4. Any of you guys trying to find tickets for the Wrigley skate next month? The only guy that responded to me on craiglist is asking 100 each.
  5. Is Stortini from the year 1978?
  6. I dunno why, but I love the psuedo-Mets color scheme the Oilers have.
  7. 1995 13-year-old KyleJRM listening to the 49ers/Falcons game knowing there is no *way* Steve Young fails to get a measly field goal drive to win it and put the Bears in the playoffs. Oops. I was at the Bears/Eagles game. Christmas Eve. The stadium started to worry when the scoreboard stopped showing the other game's score. Bears won 20-14, the first time I had ever stepped into Soldier Field. We scurried to the parking lot, where it was a parking lot os disappointment. I will be there this Monday. As such, the Bears will win.
  8. 3rd place alone if we win this one. Which is technically 4th, no? For seeding sake, I mean. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that we get the fourth seed and then have an epic second-round matchup with Detroit. Doubtful. Doesn't the NHL reseed after each series? Yes, the top remaing seed plays the lowest remaining seed in round 2. No auto 1/8 vs. 4/5.
  9. Reading 100 words into the article instead on simply looking at the pictures sure is hard. I freaking hate comments like this. I hear enough smart-howry's at work, I really hate coming home to read this crap on a cubs forum. Cant you people quit being such righteous fiends? And I deal with lazy-howry's at work, so I hate seeing people make stupid comments about things that are clearly addressed. When people stop acting like idiots I will stop calling them out. Until then, place me on ignore.

  11. Please tell me that Sean Marshall wasnt one of the main obstacles in this deal? While I can see Hendry not wanting let let DeRosa go, I would give up Marshall for Peavy in a heartbeat. While you have trouble with letting DeRosa go, you are fine with letting Marshall go. That is fine. But who is to say that these "Marshall obstacles" were not part of a package that also included DeRosa?

  13. sometimes yes. but not for the World Cup, Copa America, ect. Exactly ... WBC = World Cup. I'm a big fan of the WBC too, but come on...
  14. Since this thread has all sorts of other garbae, and I really don't care where this goes...... http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bDlpl0FJuUcBpeyjzbkF/SIG=137i7fiml/EXP=1229121769/**http%3A//newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/04/10/marmolmug_2.jpg http://www.grist.org/news/muck/2004/08/04/obama_dnc_interview.jpg
  15. well, the rule U draft was yesterday, so today maybe? Its on Thursday
  16. Umm. All of 'em. Certainly most, anyway. All of the NL Central for sure. Brett Myers as a #2 is surely a questionmark. As are John Maine and Javier Vazquez. Is Kershaw the Dodgers #2 now behind Billingsley, with Lowe and Penny gone? Huge upside but definitely a questionmark. I'm not talking about question marks, I'm talking about injury and regression. With those teams you're pretty know what you're getting and aren't really counting on those guys to be great. We're counting on that from Harden and Dempster. The bottom line is that if Harden and Dempster get injured and suck, the rotation is not good. That is relevant because there is a pretty good chance both of those things happen. If Harden and Dempster get injured and suck, then Lilly and Marquis/Marshall/Johnson move up the ladder and instead of being a vastly better rotation, it's a similar rotation. I really don't think you've had a look at what some of these teams have going on right now. There are still FAs yet to sign, but it's not pretty a lot of places. Just to give an example, the Mets now show Santana, Maine, Pelfrey, Niese, Knight. Ugh. The Cubs could lose two guys and still beat that 2-5. Yes but the Mets will likely have a better offense and bullpen. Plus the Mets aren't that great. We're trying to be better than everybody else, not comparable. You asked for an example and now that you have one (of many available, mind you), you want to try and redirect the conversation from rotations to offense and bullpen? That's really weak man. The point remains, on paper the Cubs still have a better rotation than anyone else in the NL, and injury and/or regression would merely bring them back to the pack. So if "comparable" only comes in your worst-case scenario, I'll happily live with that. I've already explained to you that I find that example weak, and I already explained it. You just are choosing not to listen. I didn't say "find a team who has question marks as big as Harden and Dempster". I asked who is as likely to get hurt or regress....not suck. The mets aren't expecting John maine to be Rich Harden, and they're not expecting Mike Pelfrey to be 2008 Dempster. Do you not get that? Actually...
  17. Plus, when Kerry Wood was throwing his simulated innings last year they were the ones batting against him. I wouldnt want to step into the box against him, no way. Your telling me you would not take a couple swings against Kerry Wood if you had a chance? I don't know if i could stand that close to the plate while he threw a 97 mph fast ball at me. I'd probably dive out of the way. Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod oh? http://pointlessbanter.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/rookieoftheyear.jpg
  18. V is the Roman numeral for 5. I've never heard anyone pronounce it as Rule V. Stop being Kyle. this isn't the super bowl, and we ain't in Rome What does any of this have to do with rule 5? http://www.mlb.com/mlb/downloads/y2008/official_rules/05_putting_ball_in_play.pdf
  19. Hendry hasn't done anything wrong. In fact, I don't know that I have even heard him say DeRosa's name once. It isn't as much a question of right or wrong. I just wonder how long he will leave his name out there. Maybe I look at it differently, but I do think that he should let his players know where they stand. I don't think that he necessarily has to do it now, but if this Peavy deal is anything like what happened last year, Derosa won't know where he stands until opening day. How do you know what he has told DeRosa? I know that last year, Derosa made statements about how he didn't know what was happening in regards to what his position would be with the team. Hendry didn't know either.

  22. I have been holding off on my brother's Christmas present, waiting so I can buy him an authentic #44 instead of #18.
  23. Circle of Death I'm guessing? Wow that's a great rule. Thanks for that. Garwilly agrees.
  24. And second place has 18. For the guy with 24, this ends today, one way or the other.
